As an avid traveler who values comfort and relaxation during layovers, my recent visit to the Skyteam Business Lounge in Sydney Airport left me feeling rather underwhelmed. From the moment I stepped inside, I couldn't help but notice the unwelcoming atmosphere that permeated the lounge.
One of the first things that struck me was the lackluster ambiance. The lounge had a distinct lack of coziness and sophistication, resembling more of a cheap, run-of-the-mill coffee shop rather than a premium space designed for business class passengers. The seating arrangement lacked privacy and comfort, making it difficult to find a quiet corner to unwind and recharge.
To my disappointment, the quality of the food available in the lounge was far from satisfactory. The selection was limited and the overall taste was underwhelming.
Another notable drawback was the absence of screens displaying flight information. As a frequent traveler, I rely on such displays to stay informed about my departure time, gate changes, and other essential details. Unfortunately, the lack of this basic amenity left me feeling disconnected and compelled me to constantly check my phone for updates.
Considering the potential for a seamless and enjoyable layover experience, the Skyteam Business Lounge in Sydney Airport fell short of my expectations. With its uninviting atmosphere, uncomfortable seating, lackluster food options, and the absence of flight status screens, it failed to create a welcoming and hassle-free environment for weary travelers.
If you're a discerning traveler seeking a refined and pleasant lounge experience, I would suggest exploring alternative options available at Sydney Airport. It's disheartening to witness the missed opportunities and lack of attention to detail that ultimately led to my disappointment during my visit to the Skyteam...
Read moreFood was disgusting - 3 sad Bain Maries with the saddest looking tomato penne pasta I can recall, and some disgusting mix with dead baby corn, and some sadly abused wet chicken drumettes. Bamboo steamers held bowls of cold tasteless noodles and cold grilled chicken that was tasty 😋 but ran out in 2 minutes and wasn’t replaced. Seeking solace in a free beer the female served 3 people who arrived after me, before me, and only then when she was walking away, looked back over her shoulder and asked if I was waiting ? - damn straight I was. This sad cafeteria is not something you’d want to buy business class for - it’s an insult compared to the last ones I visited in Frankfurt, Taipei or Dubai. Oh yeah the men’s toilets had a urinal leaking on the floor … quality? Yeah - low, low quality! Second visit the bottle beer from the fridge was not cold so they suggested ice, because the taps had not been working for a WEEK - really? This is Sydney Airport’s example to the world’s business class travellers? Ugh.😩 I spoke to the server who said she had complained many times but management doesn’t care. She said all of the business class lounges in Sydney Airport...
Read moreUsed this lounge about six weeks ago, and was as underwhelmed as other reviewers. The barman took forever to make each drink especially if coffee was ordered. The bar and the hot food counter was a choke point, also being the entry to the bathrooms. The water fountain ran out of glasses early on in my visit, despite me advising two staff members. It was as though they were in pack-up-for-the-evening mode. At about 9pm, new trays of croissants were coming out of the kitchen - were they going to be there all night, until breakfast? Most of the male toilets etc were roped off as unserviceable, and when my wife went to the ladies, she quickly returned to say "we're getting out of here, the toilets are disgusting, and near over-flowing". I couldn't help thinking "what if I wanted a shower?", but also why Malaysian Airlines (One World member) were sending me here instead of the Qantas lounge. This facility matched airport lounges that i've experienced in the US and the...
