The Bad: A month travelling Australia and this was hands down the worst restaurant experience of our entire trip. First off, we were pointed to the window seat by the “waiter”, and self seated ourselves instead of being greeted and seated by staff. Ok, not the biggest deal, but for a restaurant Id expect someone to come hand me a menu or ask if we would like something to drink. Secondly, after waiting approx. 15min without seeing a single staff member, we finally got up, found some menus off an unattended hostess booth and grabbed a bottle of water from the counter ourselves. After deciding what we would like, we had to walk into the kitchen area and ask if we were to order from there (as some restaurants, all be it less classy than this, make you do). We were met with a “No, a waiter will take your order.” Well if I had seen one in the past 20min I would have done so, but unfortunately thats not the case. Thirdly: Once a staff member finally emerged from the back of the building, it took about 3 tries to get across what we would like and answer some simple questions about the dish. I get it, Auz loves their multiculturalism, but can we please find waiters that speak english. Im not trying to down people attempting to learn, but in the fast paced restaurant industry, you need to have a basic understanding of the language in order to do the job, and should have a good grasp of the menu. Neither were present. Im sorry, but this place needs a serious wake up call if they wish to charge the prices they do and call themselves anything more than a food court diner.
The Good: The food itself was great! Kudos to the Chef and staff for a great meal.
Closing: This restaurant has the potential to be an amazing stop for hungry travellers. The food is great, but the service was beyond abysmal. Staff need direction. If they are not taught and guided to provide the best care they can, then you cannot expect them to. Multiple staff visiting at the bar oblivious to their patrons, one munching nuts from the bar while prepping food, one on their phone texting. Get a handle on your staff, and you will see 5 star reviews. Don’t, and expect more...
Read moreThe service was not great. We were given menus and told to seat ourselves when everyone else was sat by the hostess. When we told the waitress that our food was COLD she replied with "huh?" - very unprofessional. Communication between waitstaff was terrible in general. Nobody knew that we had paid, we were asked to order twice, it was SO unorganized. The food was tasteless, cold, and such a small portion for what you pay. We both got the classic breakfast, paid $53, for one slice of sourdough, 2 potatoes each, 2 eggs, and 2 slices of semi cooked bacon. Having worked in the industry, I'm not usually one to complain, and am more than forgiving. However, I felt that in this particular situation, it was completely necessary to ensure that the manager knew how unhappy we were. When we asked for the manager, nobody seemed to know where she was, one person told us she wasn't there, another said she was on the phone, it seemed as if she was lost in space or something. One of the wait staff finally pulled the "manager" from the back and told her we wanted to chat. She seemed less than interested in what we had to say, brushing us off and was not apologetic at all. She was, however, quick to insist that she "isn't even the manager, and is actually the bar manager, but would pass on the message". We're now assuming that our complaints have fallen upon deaf ears. It's just too bad that we checked the google reviews only after we had eaten, we more than likely would have followed the lead of others leaving reviews and went to McDonalds. YO, WOLFGANG - STEP YOUR...
Read moreAbysmal service (drinks took 35 min to deliver, food 50min). After incorrect order, request for water 4 times, seated among filthy tables, I got up to speak the manager (could not get anyone’s attention for 15 min- no staff member wound make eye contact). The manager abruptly told me to “sit back down and wait for my waitress”. When I responded that I tried that and it was nearing on an hour he refused to accomodate until I said I needed him to deal with it. By this time, 4 other tables were also visibly frustrated by the absolute lack of service. The guy, I heard someone call his name, I think Matteo, came over to my table and instead of hearing me out, pointed to my teenage sons KFC wrapper and scolded us for bringing it into the restaurant. He was arrogant and combative, finally correcting the order and dropping it on the table saying snidely, “I hope you enjoy it.”
There was one woman, with glasses who was at the front desk who was lovely and tried to sort things out.
Don’t know who that manager was but absolutely lacked any decency or capability in dealing with customers. What could have been quickly fixed (water glasses and a wine!) turned into a really awful experience on account of how...
