Winthrop Gardens IGA — Local services in Winthrop

I got asked to show what was inside my bag today at the checkout by the teller. I complied though I didn't have to, however, when mentioned the precarious situation he could be putting himself in asking they when he's a cashier and not a licenced security office he confirmed by suspicion that his boss says that as a staff there he has to ask the question to shoppers.

I pointed out the fact this is unfair on him should such a question lead to an altercation or backfire since he is not paid to deal with this kind of situation and may be putting himself in an precarious situation should an incident arise where he would then need to act as security against a potentially aggressive person. The teller didn't really head what I said, however I feel shame for the staff there if this is what the management of this store is asking of their cashiers.

Hire security and don't put your staffs safety in jeapourdy doing a job they are not.licenced...

We are regular customers of IGA Winthrop for over 20 years and over the last few months have been disappointed with the lack of customer service especially on weekends when junior staff are rostered on the checkouts and floor. I asked today to see the Manager as the staff didn’t know what I was talking about when asked if they had any Darrell Lea Fathers Day bags. The Manager who was in his early 20’s had no idea either. I showed a photo from the catalog and on the website and still he has no idea what I was referring to. It took a mature women who was working in the meat isle to intervene and explained IGA had them displayed at the front of the store last week but were all sold out. This person worked weekends only. The so called Managers need to be better informed or take an interest in what new products are being promoted in the stores, or don’t roster inexperienced staff...

It's a decent shop but would someone do something about the constantly expired meat marked as being on "special" the meat should have been on special 2 weeks ago. Who is the pinhead making the decisions? Im sure they're being directed by some greedy POS. First it was the chicken mince then it was pork belly today again chicken. I dont have time to go back and return it. You've not only wasted my money but ruined my dinner 3 times now. But god knows how much off or half off meat I've eaten now without noticing. I will have no issues and feel fully justified stealing something of equal value. Actually It's not even stealing. You are likely giving unsuspecting shoppers who may not bother to smell their meat...
