Tried Stanley in Central to see what the hype was about. 4.9 sounded a bit too good to be true. Easy online booking, easy parking, friendly staff. BYO with $3 corkage per person drinking. Thai style fresh oysters for entree. Popcorn chicken was very nice. Will order it again. Potato wedges were a decent portion. Lasagne looked a little sad (looked like the it was the last corner left in the baking dish) but made up for it in taste. Steak was to die for. No knife needed. Ordered medium rare and it was cooked to perfection. Sticky date pudding gets 5 stars and had amazing ice cream. If you prefer citrus we can recommend the friands with yuzu cream. Only thing we can fault was the time the food came out. Oysters and popcorn chicken were ordered as entrees but arrived 10 min apart. Same with the steak and lasagne . My husband is a slow eater and had almost finished his steak by the time my lasagne arrived. Maybe just my luck as other people who ordered the lasagne after us received theirs before me. However, we will be back for another night of...
Read moreHad dinner with family to try what turns out to be Winthrop's first decent bistro eatery if memory serves. Decor is tastefully done with a photography theme. Service was decent and food was served timely.
Calamari with salad: nicely cooked and seasoned; coleslaw salad was a nice change from the typical greens.
Ceasar salad: had all the usual suspects although we would prefer to have the option not to have the pan fried Chicken which was tough to eat. Dressing was great but bacon pieces were chewy and oversalty. A decent dish but could be further refined.
Beef steak: perfectly cooked to medium rare; mushroom sauce was a tad overpowering for my taste but it's a preference thing.
Potato wedges: crispy outside, fluffy inside so texturally great. Could be elevated to the next level with a herb mix toast after frying.
We enjoyed our first meal here and will try their lunch...
Read moreLovely restaurant hidden around the corner at Winthrop Village! We got the chicken mushroom risotto, carbonara and the boscaiola. Risotto was ok but the carbonara and boscaiola were delicious. Very filling portions, we were all so full after. Had the garlic bread (4 pieces) and Korean chicken wings (9 pieces). Both very delicious and would recommend. For drinks we had the roselle, lychee fizz and virgin mojito. Would definitely recommend the roselle. Pricing is a bit more on the expensive side but decent portions for the price you pay.
Staff were very friendly and attentive. Amazing vibes in the restaurant. There's a free parking lot available. Toilet available at the back too. Available for bookings so you don't have to stress about waiting in lines. But it's not too busy so it wouldn't be a problem if you didn't...
