I posted the following on April 26th 2017 to my Facebook page along with a video. I wish I could give Joy drop zero stars, sadly I cannot.
I have not ever done this before but, feel compelled to put a voice to my disappointment in the store #Joydrop, in the wallet made by #Colab and the lack of consumer protection legislation in Alberta. I did get a store credit for this Colab wallet from Joydrop when I returned it today as Colab do not do refunds or exchanges on items bought through Third Party's. Though I have purchased from Joydrop many times since they first opened and been very satisfied after this experience I have lost faith in the quality of the items sold there and their policies. Still, I have no choice. Sadly, after this store credit is spent I will not make any more purchases from Joydrop again as their policy is too rigid on products that fail. There is no legislation in Alberta to protect the customer in cases like this and sadly we all, including those who own and work at Joydrop are subject to the policies each store/company set. For my part, having worked in the retail industry for many years, those I have been proud to work for are not so rigid in that they, and I, assess each case individually as experience of such situations teaches you there are those that are genuine and those that are not. In the exact same circumstances with various products in numerous stores I have given a full refund as the product has already failed the customer and the good name of the store/company as well as the faith of the customer can be restored with the simple yet, profound action of providing a full refund. The truly sad aspect of this case is the 'bad feeling' surrounding the purchase of an item that fails twice in such a short time, the fact the first exchange of the wallet was not placed through the system and a new receipt given (supported by an associate called Lorena who remembered me and the first issue) followed by the truly upsetting knowledge no refund was going to be given and no empathy for my case was provided by any of the associates with the exception of Lorena who issued the store credit today. The rigidity of this policy enforced by multiple employees at this company including an employee at Head Office who repeatedly referred to store policy finally requested I send an email to them which she would pass along to the owner. This only made me feel like I had yet another hurdle to surmount one I am resigned to not doing as my time and effort is better utilised elsewhere. Though innocent and without guile in my communications they made me feel like I was in the wrong for requesting a refund in the first instance as it was 'not store policy' hence my choice to not shop there again once the...

I appreciate the concern and care that she took to look into this and contact me personally with an explanation. Thank you, Katie and the Joydrop crew for your time and patience.
Wow. I'm really disappointed in this store. I went in last week and bought, what I thought, a pair of earrings. When I got home, I opened the tissue paper to find that there was only one earring in the package. When I paid for the earrings, I thought I was getting the pair since it was a pair in silver on display beside an identical pair in gold. I wrote the store via their website in hopes for an explanation for this but received no response. I feel incredibly misled and disappointed in this purchase. The staff was friendly and extremely chatty. She even explained that she was doing their Instagram photos but failed to mention that I was only going to receive 1 earring. As much as I try to support local, this is NOT one I can support. Feeling pretty sad they can't take the time to respond to inquiries. Hopefully this will catch their attention and be a warning to others to question what they're buying when they're...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBetween this and the Market Mall location, easily some of the best customer service I've received from a small local business in Calgary. They carry mostly Canadian designers, are consistent, unobtrusive, but helpful when you need it. On separate occasions I've received styling suggestions when looking for jewelry, and they were right on! The only reason I didn't give 4 stars is I wish they would get more designers... there are tons more Canadian designers I wish they would carry.. I find their selection strays more to the gold and delicate side, when sometimes you want statement and more real...
