I would like to start by saying that in the past couple years I have been coming to Muttley Crue, me and my dog have had nothing but great experiences and every staff member I have interacted with has been nice and accommodating.
However I feel I need to share my most recent interaction as it did not sit right with me:
I made a reservation to book my dog in for 5 nights of boarding. After the reservation was made, I got a call from the receptionist/technician letting me know there is a new policy that if your dog has not been at Muttley Crue in the past 6 months, that I will need to book a separate day of daycare first, on my own dime to make sure he is still comfortable being there.
If they are going to force me to book in for a day of daycare, to see if my dog is still ok with boarding, I feel that should be a complimentary service. I did not need a day in the middle of the week or a weekend I was at home for my dog to go to daycare, so why should I be forced to pay for it? Boarding itself is expensive as it is, so to ask for more money on top of that seems a bit excessive. I do agree with a trial day before their very first visit (which my dog did and I also paid out of pocket for), but to keep enforcing this policy every 6 months seems like a bit of an overkill
Dogs are going to be a little stressed when they stay the night for boarding just by the nature of the business. They are probably going to not be themselves because they are in a different environment than normal. And that should be expected. To me it seems extremely difficult to tell if a dog is any more stressed out than last time he was there, when he must have been fine (as per the Muttdate report cards anyway). I asked how they would know if the dog was any more stressed out than normal, and the tech on the phone gave examples of if they are barking, trying to get out of the cage or seem like they are having a panic attack... All of these things seem normal to me for most dogs going through a boarding experience. Most dogs will be barking, they will probably try and get out of the cage if they can, and they will probably be a bit more stressed out than normal. So it just seems a bit odd to me, especially when most other places are fine with dogs being away from the business for 6 months.
The thing that really got me was that I went back and found that my dog was last booked in at Muttley Crue 3 or 4 days within 6 months before the new booking I was trying to make. When I let them know this, they said it was still "around" 6 months, so he wouldn't be accepted. If the rule is actually 5 months and 3 weeks then they should start by saying that... because at this point, to me, it looks like they are just trying to take more money from me. It's already expensive as it is to book him in for 5 nights and it just didn't sit well with me that they are asking for more, even though it should have fallen within the "6 month" policy. To me, I cant see my dog changing its attitude much within 6 months anyway, so this new policy seems a bit tight as is. Maybe a year or two, I could see, but 6 months is really short period of time.
Anyways, I just wanted to share this a buyer beware for others. This is disappointing to me, because I was a happy customer, until this recent policy update. Unfortunately, I will be taking my business elsewhere, at least for...
Read moreVery disappointed with the last grooming service of my puppy. She had a terrible haircut- canât even be called haircut. My 4 month old puppy was shaved, you can see her skin and the patches are even crooked and uneven. I was a client since 2020 with my first dog and had no issues until this year! The haircuts are very short and does not look nice. When I called to speak to the owner Annie, the groomer called me back, she was unprofessional, spoke to me like she doesnât care and said that puppies get that haircut very short. Iâm not going back to them, so they can ruined my puppies hair, my puppy is not herself and taking to her Vet, is not recommended to shave a tiny dog specifically when the have double fur. Hopefully her hair grown and they have not ruin her for life. I have taken pictures of the bad job this person has done, maybe she has not experienced. They should not touched a puppy if they donât know what they are doing. They donât even deserved 1âïž
March 16, 2024 To add to your respond Annie! Sorry to heard you are not feeling well! First let me tell you, you were missed informed about Tuxedo, he was not shaved, he had a short cut and was definitely not shaved and Stephanie his groomer called me to informed me what she was going to do with Tuxedo and she assured me he would look nice, but will not be shaved, that is what a good professional groomer should do!; in addition, Tuxedoâs haircut was not done the same day as Rosita. Rositaâs appointment was on March 12 and she was shaved, didnât have a shortcut as my other dog, the groomer is not professional and I donât think has experience and I do know and understand the meaning of shortcut and shaving, and that was not what happened or what your groomer did to my little girl! If you provide me your cell phone I can send you the pictures so you can see for yourself what I mean! Hopefully her hair will grow back as silky as it was. Believe me I will consult with her veterinary! I love her so much, she is my beautiful girl still doesnât matter what was done to...
Read moreWe just recently moved into the area and needed to find a groomer so we figured the best place to ask was at the off leash park. After we got raving reviews from almost everyone about Muttley Crue we decided that this was the place to go. We have an incredibly nervous Golden Doodle that can sometimes be aggressive when she's nervous so it's always something we discuss before bringing her anywhere new. I talked to the owner when I called and she suggested bringing her in for a day of daycare before the groom so that the Ella could develop some trust with the girls before they just dove right into the grooming. Not only were we not charged for the day of daycare (we were told that providing daycare to better a dogs experience was part of the service!) but when we brought Ella back in for groom the next day she was actually excited to be there! I called during the day to check up on her and was told that she was currently involved in Wrestle Mania 2013 with another Doodle and was having blast. I came to pick her up after work and almost cried when I saw her. Not only was she curled up on the dog beds snuggled up with a bunch of dogs crashed but when she finally realized I was there I couldn't believe that my dog could look that beautiful. They gave her the best haircut I'd ever seen, charged me a great price and most importantly my dog, who has hated the groomers her whole life was completely stress free. I don't care where you go or how far you live, everyone needs to bring their dog here. On top of all the great service and unmatchable customer service the whole shop is organic and chemically free as just an added bonus. This is how dog grooming salons...
