Usually the service is mediocre and the food is good. It’s all you can eat so you don’t see much of the servers and can enjoy your food in peace. This was not the case, usually I can tolerate it but now I don’t want to eat there again.
We were a table of two, walked into the restaurant and we were put a table that wasn’t set up. We weren’t walked to the table, just told to sit down by the girl at the front desk. No menus, no water, no soy sauce, not even a simple hello. We had to ask for it ourselves.
We got the menus after we put through our first order to which we noticed there were new menu items though it wasn’t written on the digital menu. Some food came out and it wasn’t as good as it usually is. The edamame was cold. The sashimi (which is meant to be ice cold and sometimes is brought out on ice) was warm which was concerning.
We tried our best to enjoy ourselves regardless until a table nearby had a small issue with the quantities coming out. From what I know they did not see the amount that came out for the sushi so they assumed it was one piece per order. Only some of it came out so they asked for it to be canceled because they were unaware of how much they actually ordered. The server said it was on the menu and aggressively grabbed the menu to show them saying that she’s worked there for a long time and knew what the menu looked like as if the customers were complaining, they weren’t. She told them they would have to pay for all of the food if they didn’t eat it. She left to, from what I understand, complain to all the other staff members about what happened pointing at the table in question. They went to pay after eating what they could and she essentially yelled at them asking if they finished the food on the table because they would have to pay for it if they didn’t, as if they weren’t already aware from the first time she said it.
We finished up our food as well and went to pay. She handed me the receipt and I saw the new menu items listed at $0 but nothing else that we ordered was on it so just to make sure everything was ok I asked her why they were listed. She basically yelled at me saying to look again at the receipt because they’re listed at $0, didn’t answer my question. The other person at my table also took a look to make sure and THEN the server said “oh it’s because it’s a new menu item”. I’m not blind I can see that it’s there and I asked a simple question, I didn’t accuse anyone of anything. I gave her the cash to pay for the food and she asked me if I wanted my change back.
The only good part of that experience was the only male server that came around who was super kind and friendly. He mentioned he was new but seemed to be doing better than any other server that came by to say the least. This was definitely not the first time I’ve been there but it might just...
Read moreWould give 0 stars if I could. Came here on February 27th. Closed for renovations, even though Google Maps said they were open. They apparently put a piece of paper on the door stating they were closed. Pathetic.
Came back on the 28th. Found out they have ridiculous rules. Lunch menu doesn't have chicken or beef sushi. Those are the only ones I want to eat. Dinner menu does. So the waitress brings a dinner menu. Dinner menu is more expensive. Fine. I will order off the dinner menu and pay 10 more dollars. Oh, another new rule, if I order off the dinner menu, then everyone at the table must order off the dinner menu. New option. I can eat off the a la carte menu. Different waiter gets involved. Nope. Can't do that either. Everyone has to then order off the a la carte menu.
I asked "so if I go sit at that table over there, can I order off the a la carte menu?"
Yes was the answer. So I went and sat by myself. Ridiculous.
I know it's not the front of house staff's fault for these asinine rules. So, to the management and owners, I could understand if you wanted to hide more expensive items behind the more expensive dinner menu. But chicken and beef sushi are 5.95. Less than many of the options available on the lunch menu. So it's not that.
It's also not an availablilty thing, as they are available at lunch time, just not on the lunch all you can eat menu. So it's not that either.
So, no logical reason for this as far as we can tell. Give your heads a shake owner's and or management. Won't be returning, nor recommending your restaurant to anyone, due to...
Read moreThe entrance was pretty easy to find, although the water made it slightly difficult to get into. Navigation once I was inside was pretty difficult too, since I'm quite tall and the ceiling is extremely low. Even my friend had trouble and he's about average height.
I didn't try any food. In fact, I never intended to and if I came across anything resembling food I don't think I would have eaten it. That said, I don't want to rate the food badly because I didn't try any.
I also didn't receive any service and I am very thankful for that. This is not the sort of place you would want to receive service, especially if you weren't expecting it and didn't ask for it. I imagine that if I did receive service from someone else it would be with good intentions, since most normal people wouldn't be going to a place like this and doing so would elicit some level of concern from others if they found out. Therefore, I have given the service five stars.
The atmosphere was easily my favorite part. The low ceiling gave it a claustrophobic feeling and the darkness, combined with my poor flashlight, made for an extremely unsettling experience. The sounds of cars echoing from above and the cool air and flowing water also contributed greatly to the creepy atmosphere.
Overall, I would 100% recommend. It was an extremely memorable experience and I would recommend that anyone visit, so long as you come with a good flashlight (unlike me) and a strong set of calves (once again, unlike me). Crocks or other watershoes are also recommended depending on how deep you intend to...
