It honestly saddens me to have to write this, because I really want to love this cinema. I've been here over a dozen times (and can prove it if necessary), and I keep hoping for a better experience.
The positives? The theatre is always clean, well-run, well-organized, and seating is very comfortable. Staff is great, and I appreciate the effort put into maintaining a solid moviegoing experience.
But here’s the issue: the audio delay. It has been noticeable in every single film I’ve watched here. Since I usually sit dead center in the premier seats (where sound should be optimized), I assumed it might just be an isolated issue. However, on my most recent visit—where there were only two people in the entire theatre—I decided to experiment. I tested no fewer than 10 different locations in the theatre, only to discover the exact same delay in every single seat. This is not something I’ve experienced at other cinemas, yet it’s consistent at this location. That’s a major problem when watching a movie, and frankly, it’s unacceptable given the price of admission.
Another gripe: the exit signs. While the stair guide lights are fine and unobtrusive, the exit signs are obnoxiously bright. I get that fire codes dictate certain requirements, but surely there’s a better way. Dimming them significantly or having them activate only in an emergency (like standard emergency lights) would be a huge improvement. When I pay good money to enjoy a film, I don’t want multiple glowing distractions in my peripheral vision the entire time.
I really hope these issues are addressed because this cinema has a lot going for it otherwise. But until then, I can’t justify a...
Read moreYou would think that the self serve concession set up would actually make things go faster, but the complete lack of anything resembling clearly marked lines for the drink machines, and the fact that customers are then left trying to figure out how exactly the machines work, actually results in a rather chaotic and much slower process than simply having a trained employee that takes customer orders. Especially seeing as the self service is not reflected in a reduction in ticket prices at the theater itself.
That's not to mention that we were actually late getting into the theater for our movie, because the cashier did not have any change, and the customer ahead of us paid in cash. Meaning we had to stand there waiting for them to literally count out loonies, and toonies after the customer paid with a $100 bill.
An issue that was emphasized by the fact that there are no washrooms anywhere in the lobby, and the only way to get to the bathroom was to go through the check out line to access the screen area.
The irony was that despite being late getting into the theater, and having to stop at the washroom before going in because of the ridiculous set up of not being able to access the bathrooms from the lobby, didn't actually cause us to be late for the movie itself. As the film was a full twenty five minutes late in starting. Which I have to say I have never before experienced in a movie theater.
The theater may have upgraded its seating options with their recliner chairs, and "premiere" seating, but it seems as though they have taken a massive step backwards in every single other aspect of their amenities,...
Read moreExcellent experience. My go to theatre from now on! Right from the beginning you are greeted by someone who explained how the new Landmark theatre works. The food and concession are is like a big grocery store that you can grab the food items you want yourself then proceed to a cashier to check out. After that you are scanned before entering the theatre for your movie. They do have the multi drink vending machine you operate yourself with many flavours to choose from. Sidenote, while paying I did notice a fridge full of alcoholic beverages to definitely fit the adult cravings.
Now to the inside of the auditorium. Comfy plush leather seating. All seats are reclining and this building offers premiere seating. What this includes are the seats are situated inside a private pod like structure. It has side tables to place any food or drinks and a cubby underneath to place your bags and/or purses. And they even have coat hooks to hang those jackets of yours.
Top notch experience and very enjoyable from adults to children. Friendly staff, helpful, and we'll organized. Even when you pull into the parking lot, you feel like you're in the states or something with the different elevation right next...
