Quality Indian Foods & Spices — Local services in Guelph

There are several Indian food retailers around Guelph, but I go to this particular retailer because of their customer service in finding what I want. They are also soft spoken and attentive when I ask for help.

I make the extra effort to go to this store to pick up my favourite Indian snacks like fine sev and ghatia. Both are gluten free savouries, not too salty or spicy and made of chick pea flour. I eat these snacks with roasted dalia split chickpeas which are 100% salt free in order to satisfy my craving for low glycemic snacks .

Sometimes I take these foods to my celiac friends who are searching for gluten-free low cost snacks.

Gatia also has carom spice in it which is used to alleviate indigestion. In addition, I buy Punjabi Mix which is a very spicy snack. I use it to make seasoning to sprinkle on steamed or boiled vegetables - blend equal quantities of Punjabi Mix and Dalia roasted split chick peas.

To satisfy my sweet tooth I pick up 500 g of Chum Chum, an Indian dessert made with milk solids and sugar, very similar to Rasgola or gulab jamun which are a bit too sweet fo my taste. Chum chums usually come with a nut stuffing.

In addition to snacks and desserts, I pick up cereal for breakfast - 2kg semolina sooji and rice sooji for my home cooking The price is right for me, compared to buying cream of wheat at mainstream supermarkets. The quality is really good.
