I would neither visit this place for the price nor the service. It's just one of those places you're kind of forced to visit because they happen to sell stuff that you're looking to buy AND it's not sold at Walmart or Loblaws.
They've got good variety of Indian and Pakistani (I guess all South Asian) foods. Prices are somewhat higher than your typical supermarket and that's only for items that are available at mainstream supermarkets e.g. milk, bread, roti, naan etc. Have no way of comparing prices for items that aren't available at traditional supermarkets.
Service is definitely sub-par and that's putting it nicely. One cashier in particular gives you the impression that she's being held against her will and somehow working as slave labour. I've had to checkout with her a couple of times (because there's usually only 1 cash open) and she's not uttered a single word. I would've given her the benefit of the doubt and thought she was mute but that's not the case. Have seen/heard her mingling with her coworkers.
They do have a refund policy but I strongly advise against putting it to test. They'll make you feel as though you're robbing them if you ask for a refund. Only buy what you...
Read moreNo ethics, they cheat customers with prices and insist on it. I had an experience today with an item posted for $2.49. The counter girl punched in $3.49 instead of scanning the barcode. I objected that its posted for $2.49. She goes to check the price and comes back saying its $3.49. So I ask her to show me and there is no $3.49 for this items or a similar item. it says $2.49 for this item and 2 more similar items. She just invented $3.49, and now insists that they didn't post the price. So I called the manager, who turns out be a young chap, who also claimed to be the owner. Instead of reprimanding the counter rep, he supports her saying that the posted price of $2.49 is incorrect, and wants to show me invoices. That's a different story than what the girl had! I am upset because any other store manager would have disciplined the counter girl for charging incorrect prices and for making up stories but this guy is supporting her and making up more stories. Pay close attention when they punch random prices and do not scan barcode. DON'T trust them! Update: The owner messaged me, and we had a good conversation. I hope they addresses the underlying problems with trust and...
Read moreHave been a regular visitor to this store for quite a long time. However a recent incident and experience thereof has not been pleasant. I bought a golden raisin packet a few days ago. When we opened the pack and tried a few there was an awful smell coming like a kerosene or some kind of polish. I went and tried to return it and they said they need receipts. Normally for grocery items its hard to maintain a track of all the receipts. I went thinking that since the pack has the store name on it they would agree. It’s not about money at all - its just a 7 dollar thing but the attitude seemed a bit unprofessional and moreover why would I lie for just 7 bucks. I just think this would have never happened at any Canadian grocery stores like walmart, no frills etc. They just lost one customer now. I know it does not matter to the big...
