Bennett’s furniture store in Kingston provides an exceptional service experience for their customers throughout all departments. I initially went into Bennett’s to see if they had mattresses. I would be checking out their prices before venturing off to a dedicated bed store, like Sleep Country, where I would find specialists in beds to help me select the best mattress. I never went to another store.
When I was greeted by Anna, she immediately noticed that I was using a cane. She took the time to ascertain where my injuries and pain points were, to help identify the mattress that would best fit my needs. Before looking at any beds, she asked me to lie onto a special mattress, in the position I slept in, from which a diagnostic tool was executed that would show how my weight was distributed on the mattress, as well as the level of firmness that would best suit my frame.
From there, she selected a short list of beds at various price points for me to try.
There was no rush, Ana wanted me to have enough time on each mattress to experience it and form an opinion. She asked if I tended to sleep hot or cold. Unsure, I tested two: one that I felt my temperature rise, and the second that I felt a cooling effect. While an interesting experiment, it solidified that I didn’t need or want a mattress that impacted my body temperature. We also tested various types of mattresses, pillow top, memory foam, smooth.
When I tested the SIMMON Influence Plush Mattress I knew it was for me.
Next came the discussion about the box spring. Anna suggested that I try an adjustable base instead of a box spring.
She had me lie on the mattress and she raised the feet and head slightly, saying that this position would provide support for my back and open up my hips and groin, which would aid in the healing process. It was magical. This position immediately relieved any tension and pain I was feeling. She then demonstrated the effects of raised feet on lowering heart rate and anxiety.
This was a total game changer. I have been unable to sleep for the past 15 months due to my injury, and now I had a bed that I could not only adjust to read in, but also put into positions to treat my injury and practice my mindfulness.
Anna’s comprehensive knowledge about bedding combined with her compassionate approach to offer me a healing solution demonstrated a level of customer service and care far superior to any that I have ever experienced. Thank you Ana!
The experience with the rest of the team was equally positive. The women at the cashiers desk were welcoming, and took the time to answer all of my questions … and when they didn’t know the answer, they quickly reached out to someone who did.
The two lovely delivery men arrived on schedule and made sure to send me a notice when they were close so I would be ready for them. They set up the bed and took the time to ensure that I knew how to use the remote.
Unfortunately, It was quickly determined that an inventory error had occurred, and I had received a firm instead of plush mattress.
Bennett’s quickly took responsibility for this error and re-dispatched the service men to collect the mattress. A rush was put on to ship the correct mattress, however it was now the weekend.
Ana worked with the store manager and they were able to secure the mattress and have it scheduled for the first delivery time in the following week. To make up for my inconvenience they also provided a discount, which was really appreciated.
The delivery men arrived this morning and assembled my new bed. They ensured that it was set to the correct height, and also provided me with information about the warranty.
While I never would have thought of Bennett’s as a mattress store, it will be the only place I will go for one in the future.
During my three visits to the store, I took the time to look at (and try out) some of their furniture. I was very impressed with the quality and selection … specifically the accessible self rising chairs for the elderly or people with disabilities.

Read moreI’ve waited several weeks to post this, hoping to give the company time to rectify the issues we had however, that has not been our experience. We purchased a large tv stand/hutch from Bennett’s and initially had a great experience, shipping was fast and the delivery men were professional and courteous. However, upon inspection of the item after delivery we noticed that the stain used was applied very patchy and there was a chip out of the front of the item. I immediately brought this to the attention of our sales associate (including photos) and was told that the Service Manager would be in contact with me at the start of the week. I then received a follow up email from the same sales associate a few days later indicating that her and the manager had looked over the piece in the showroom and that this was just the “antique look” of the piece, I did not receive a phone call. I disagreed, especially in regard to the chipping and was told that I was welcome to return the piece with the incurred additional costs even though it arrived damaged. I declined to incur the additional costs, indicating my shock and disappointment in the transaction and that I would not be a repeat customer going forward. Following this I did receive a phone call from the manager, who left me a voicemail requesting that I call her back, however she has yet to return my several attempts to contact her. Read moreSearching for a new sofa during the Covid-19 pandemic has been very difficult and down right exhausting. We ordered a couch , not once but twice from two different suppliers and both failed on their “promised” delivery date. Yes, promised ~ not estimated.
Then we met Gareth ! I called Bennett’s making a phone inquiry about a specific style of couch we wanted and also indicated we needed something quickly. Gareth was amazingly helpful. He listened to my requests and offered to email me photos of floor models he had in stock. None of the three worked (not large enough) so I sent him a screen shot of one I saw on their website. He checked for availability and confirmed if we purchased today they would have it to the Kingston location by Wednesday but he insisted we come and sit on it as recent feedback suggested it was stiff and photos can distort colour. Upon arrival to the store we were greeted right away and Gareth escorted us to the couch of choice. The colour was perfect and the firmness was not an issue for us. We cannot express how happy we are to get our new couch delivered on Thursday!
