I had issues with my ps5 turning off without warning after playing some games for a bit. I thought the ps5 just needed a cleaning. But the repair man (I assume tom) told me it was most likely a power supply issue. I chose to just do the cleaning anyways first. I got the ps5 when it first came out and have never had it maintenanced before so I thought it would be ideal. When I got it back tom said it was very dirty inside and liquid cooling spilled out. It ran immensely quieter and didn't get hot to the touch. Unfortunately I had the same issue with it turning off randomly. Like Tom said it was the power supply issue and when I brought it back he hooked me up and got the power supply issue all solved for me quite speedily. Not one random shut off since getting it back. So just wanted say thanks for the help and I would recommend this place to anyone imo. Also when I went they were going through a reopening so it was very busy for them. But they were very kind and helpful to get my problems sorted as soon...
Read more5 stars for Tom- he was very patient and accommodating while my family browsed the game store (not really his responsibility- but he stepped up)- and helped us out however he could. He didn't get annoyed when my kids kept setting off the arcade machine- he didn't make us feel rushed or self conscious as we wandered aimlessly in circles. I happened to mention that I'd had a conversation with Jason about a charger I was looking for, again- with no prompting, he reached out on my behalf and searched until he found the dated/rare/dusty item I was after. He also provided us with pleasant like-minded conversation, which my little clan of weirdos don't experience in the retail world as often these days. Did I mention he did all of this on the heels of an exhaustingly indepth conversation with the customers before us? Why are you still reading this? Go meet Tom! Throw your phone on the ground and take it to him- still worth it. Proud...
Read moreTom fixed my 15+ year old GameCube. I was trying to play Luigi’s Mansion during Halloween, but the game wasn’t being read. I cleaned the area of the laser and it was a temporary fix, as the game could not be read the following day. I called Tom at SM Gamez and he said he could try readjusting the laser. That seemed to have fixed it, but Tom kept checking the console daily to make sure it was working properly. One day, Tom called me and told me the games were being unable to be read. Tom said that he didn’t want to take my money for his previous services if the console didn’t work, so he wanted to instead pass it on to another technician to do diagnostics. Turns out, the console needed some lubricant.
All in all, Tom was very patient and always thinks about the client when doing repairs. If there is anyone who I would recommend for tech repairs, it would be Tom or anyone else at SM Gamez. Thanks, Tom, for...
