I was very excited to try this AYCE KBBQ/Sushi restaurant that was super hyped up in social medias and had very good reviews on google... and unfortunately, it did not live up to the hype.

The meat quality was such a let down.. especially the Pork Belly, I had 3-4 different orders of the Pork Belly and 3 out of 4 of them had a gammy smell and taste to it that lingered in the back of my throat which made me feel nauseous. I had to "wash it" off that after taste with rice which was SOOOO stale, not even 1 grain of rice wanted to stick to my finger (also cold). The last serving of Pork Belly.. I had to spit it out immediately due to an intense gammy/funky taste that alarmed me that this meat was probably spoiled, that completely ruined my night. Every other meat (Slices of Beef, Beef Ribs, and Red Meat Skewers such as Lamb and Beef) options were so overly seasoned or sweeten, it was straight up a Russian roulette between instant diabetes or hypertension. It was probably one of my worst "imitation" (because the seasoning/flavor profile was pretty much Chinese BBQ) K-BBQ experience in Montreal, second to "Kalbi BBQ" in Chinatown, that one's a pure blasphemy. The fried chicken also came cold and stale... the batter around the fried chicken sat so long that it no longer was crispy and the cold oil simmered long enough to make it chewy and hard... the sauce on top that was suppose to be "yangnyeom" I presume? did not taste like a single drop of gochujjang.. but a sweet ginger sauce (??? why?). At this point, everything that came (BBQ products) was overly seasoned, spoiled/questionable in term of freshness and quality, or plain stale and cold.

The only saving for this place was their sushi and their serving speed, probably one of the best selection of sushi at AYCE Restaurant standard. Delicious spicy salmon, a generous amount of it is served on sushi/makis that includes it. The serving speed is also top tier, within 5-10 minutes of your order, your whole bill will be on your table. A very hard achievement that most AYCE can't nail, bravo for that.

But in the end, 100$ (tax & tips included) for 2 persons. The overall experience was NOT WORTH IT AT ALL. I can't understand how this place got so many 4-5 stars with what they served me tonight, if I excluded the sushi and the service, this place would not even deserve a...

Bad manager service. The manager is very agressive.we made a reservation for 21:45 (we arrived at 21:30), and when we sat down we found out that we had 5 minutes to place the order as the kitchen closed at 21:45. after ordering everything and starting to eat, 30 minutes later the manager brings the bill and rushes us to eat quickly and leave. he came to the table every 2 minutes and when I asked why they accepted the reservation if the restaurant closed at 21:45, and that we should know that the restaurants close at 22.he said it was a mistake and even so he continued to treat us badly and forcing people to leave. in that pressure he spilled soy sauce on a friend's clothes. anyway, awful and we couldn't eat for all we paid. the only quality thing there is the bussboy/bussgirl. Returning your answer: The story you were told is not true. She called at 20:45 making a reservation for 21:45, how do you accept a reservation at an all you can eat style restaurant with 15 minutes to close? All you have to do is look at the notebook and see that the reservation was made, so( the person at the phone) accepted it. When we arrived at the door no one said anything, the hostess let us straight in. When we sat down and made the second order, another gentleman came, other than the rude one who came to serve us, advising us that we had 5 minutes to order because the kitchen was closing. The situation we went through was shameful. If the restaurant is unable to serve people with respect and dignity, do not accept reservations after 9 pm, at least an hour to eat in peace, something we did not have that night in the restaurant. An arrogant, uneducated employee. Not even an apology for staining my colleague's clothes he asked. And even more, he accused us of having people missing to pay the bill, and he himself did not pay attention to the payment notes. I've seen in other comments people complaining about exactly the same employee in question. He doesn't just need a coach like you said, he needs to learn politeness and respect for others, which he hasn't had all night. He even took a plate from a friend's hand while he was picking up the food. If the restaurant has cameras, watch them, as I've never seen anything like this anywhere else....

On December 29 at 5:30 p.m., there were 12 of us having dinner at Hoshi. We were divided into two tables. For our table we ordered soup, seafood, Korean BBQ meat and sushi. The soup, seafood and Korean BBQ meat were quickly served, but we noticed that the sushi was not served. We thought the staff was too busy and the sushi would eventually be served. However, after 1 hour we still didn't have any sushi, so we decided to inform the staff. Two waiters came to us and asked us which sushi were missing. We were very surprised that they didn't know what food was served and what food was missing. Then sushi was served. After that, a waiter (20 years old, 1.65m tall, 80Kg) came with a plate containing 3 pieces of spicy salmon and tuna Nigiri. We realized this plate was already served so we asked if it could be returned. The waiter took the plate back to the kitchen and came later with the same plate. He said in a mad voice that we must take this plate since it is prepared for us. We told them that if in the first place, they knew what food was served and what food is missing, this situation could not have happened. The waiter asked us why we were so frustrated and we responded that we didn't want to have the same plate twice and that if the service was good in the first place, this situation couldn't happen. He said a mistake could happen and he took the plate and taped it to our table "BANG" and left. We were all in shock to see this act of violence. We have never experienced this kind of attitude from a server in the past. This is unacceptable. We hope the owner can identify this staff and provide him with more training. If he is not aware of his horrible behavior, he will make another victim and it will damage Hoshi's reputation. We really like the food, but with this waiter's attitude we don't recommend this place. Food: 4/5, Service: 0/5,...

Awful experience on a Friday night, this is our second time here (first time was amazing which is why we came back) Firstly, the meat's freshness was questionable, and even though it was way too seasoned and salty, you could still taste the aftertaste of a non-fresh meat (see the very thin piece of meat spread out, you can see that the color is uneven when zoomed in, it's not because of the black plate). Then, as you can see in the pictures, half of the meat order came in crumbles and extra small pieces.. that's scraps size, this is not a standard KBBQ order of meat. Continuing on, no one came to change the grill and there was no service other than waiters bringing the order, no one we could flag down for a request. The burnt scrap just kept building on, so yes this is on what we kept on grilling the stale meat. To wrap it all up, we asked for extra cups with our teapot and and they said that each tea pot = 1 person and asked if I just wanted 3 more cups while charging me the price of 4 pots of tea (how can this even be a question?!) so I asked for 3 more pots since I'm already paying for them. With tips and taxes it came to a bill of over $200 for 4 ppl, we came for an occasion to celebrate some really good news and I regret so much for not having gone to Gyu Kaku at this point. Before you call me a "Karen", I rarely give bad reviews and I'm all for encouraging local restaurants and Asian owners, but this is not acceptable, they had the most unfriendly staff and my entire review is in comparison to my previous experience at the same restaurant! I'm still sitting in the restaurant and my stomach is already feeling a bit unwell. I'm just out of words.

Mediocre at best. This place has been hyped all over the place but honestly it’s pretty mediocre. When we walked in, the server brought us to the wrong table so we had to move. You also have to call a server over to scan the QR code, which is pretty inconvenient. It’s also very cramped, with very little leg room. There’s also a 5 min grace period between each order, which we weren’t told about. When eating in a group where everyone orders from their own phone, this is pretty inconvenient since only one person’s order was put in and the rest had to wait 5 mins before collectively placing another order. The food: maybe it wasn’t the best time to come, but we went for lunch on a Saturday so it was abt 30 per person. There were only 4 meat options for the bbq and there weren’t many sushi options either. They only had 5 types of veggies as well. There’s no way to order wasabi online, so we had to call someone over. None of the tempura even came with sauce/dip. Also, for a kbbq place, there is no sauce at all. Although the meant is marinated, I expected there to be other sauce options (as some still have little flavour). All they had was soy sauce for the sushi. TLDR: I’d go to another place just for the leg room

This was overall a really great experience, having never done anything like this before. Plenty of parking. No wait time to be seated, although the staff were not overly friendly or engaging. We were asked if this was our first time, we said yes. She had us scan the code on her tablet and just walked away, giving no further instructions. Our failed attempt to figure out the order process caused us to lose the page. After waitng a while, I went to seek help, I was told to go sit down and left to keep waiting before our waiter finally checked on us. Realized we need the QR code, & went to have one printed off. This was the only downside and could have been avoided by simply providing the code at the table at all times in the first place. All of the things we tried were fresh and delicious. It was a lot of fun cooking things up right at the table. We left very full. The cost was a little confusing as you think it's a flat rate. There are no individual prices beside each item, so you just pick away. The bill came to $106 (with a minimum tip) and we did not get drinks, just had water. So if you want a fun night out and have money to burn, I highly recommend.
