We went on Saturday night for our 4-year anniversary and had the best time ever. First of all, we walked in to a super bubbly hostess, which was already a great start to the evening. We got seated, and shortly after, the waitress came to take our drink orders. One of the managers, Angelika, who was walking around, came by to greet us and made sure to suggest a few things on the menu, as it was my partner's first time at Birdhouse. I briefly mentioned that it was our anniversary night, and we were super excited to be here at Birdhouse.
We got our drinks, which were both refreshing and beautiful to look at. Time flew by as we enjoyed some 90's hits, and before we knew it, our nachos and crispy tofu bites arrived. The portions were huge, the presentation was on point, and everything was so tasty. At no point were we rushed, and we even had time to digest our appetizers before our main dishes arrived. Being at a wingery, it would have been a crime not to order some wings, especially with the number of sauce options available. Honey garlic has always been my go-to, and I have to say, I was not disappointed with that yummy garlic taste. (I WANT MOREEEE). My partner had the cauliflower wings with the hot and honey IPA sauce, and they were fantastic too. I'm not a fan of beer, and thankfully it didn't taste like beer, so we were both pleased.
At this point, I thought the evening couldn't get any better, but it did. We asked Kalia for some extra sauce, because there is no such thing as too much sauce, let's be honest. She cracked a joke and left, and we were both laughing our butts off.
After our meal, we ended up moving outside to the terrace to enjoy some more drinks and digest the enormous amount of food we had just eaten. Chris, the general manager, came by to chat and see how our experience was so far. I'm sure he wasn't surprised when we both said it was beyond our expectations.
We spoke a bit about the new Birdhouse opening in Centropolis, and shortly after, he left. A few minutes later, Kalia, our amazing waitress, came with two ice cream cookies and a candle to celebrate our anniversary. We were both in awe of that gesture and did not expect this to happen. That was the cherry on top of our evening. We left around closing time, each with a huge smile on our face, grateful for such a wonderful evening.
YOU NEED TO GO THERE, IT...
Read moreLast night, I ventured into the culinary wonderland that is the Birdhouse Restaurant in D.D.O. for a double date, a brave expedition in the name of romance and food. Spoiler alert: the service was top-notch, the food was good, but my wallet is still weeping.
As we walked in, the atmosphere was as cozy as a bird’s nest—if that nest was filled with Pinterest-worthy decor and a subtle hint of honey garlic. Our server fluttered over with the enthusiasm of a friendly sparrow, and let me tell you, this person could charm the feathers off a chicken. Seriously, I was ready to leave a glowing review after just the service alone. If only they could've taken my leftovers with them!
Now, onto the food: the dishes were delicious, each bite singing a melody of flavors that could make even a picky eater swoon. However, it felt like the prices were auditioning for a role in "The Great British Bake Off: Pricey Edition." I mean, I’m all for gourmet experiences, but I was half-expecting a side of my own personal chef to come with my entrée at those prices!
But here’s where the comedy of errors took a turn: in the haze of delightful conversation and copious laughter, I walked out without my beloved leftovers. Yes, the precious remains of my overpriced dinner were left behind, sitting on the table like a forgotten trophy of my culinary conquests. I can’t tell you how furious I was! After spending an amount that could’ve funded a small vacation, the thought of my uneaten food being tossed out felt like a betrayal worthy of a soap opera. “Noooo! My buffalo wings! How could you abandon me?”
To sum it all up: if you’re looking for a charming evening with great service and delectable food (that comes at a price), Birdhouse is the place to be. Just make sure to keep a close eye on your leftovers—otherwise, they may become a casualty of your delightful evening.
Would I return? Absolutely! But next time, I’ll be packing a doggy bag… or maybe just a full-on...
Read moreI went to UHaul a couple of weeks ago and found this place next door. Looks great from the outside and the food truck caught my eye. Thought we would try it ASAP. It felt like entering a high-end wings 'restaurant'. Gracefully welcomed and seated. Shortly after, our waiter approached us. She was very helpful despite it being only her second day as a waitress with no previous experience. Honestly, she was much miles above many others we have met before (sorry I didn't catch your name). Thumbs-up to the management to give her a chance. Speaking of, we met Peter today who came to our table twice to make sure everything was fine and we had a nice little chat. It was amazing because he was making sure the customers were satisfied while getting feedbacks. Drinks and foods were very quick to arrive and were delicious. We tried the local beer "Le Trou du Diable Apocalypso". I loved it despite me being a light beer person. It was not as strong tasting as some IPAs I've had. For food, we had the smoked apple habanero wings with a classic poutine. Hands down the best wings sauce I have had. As some would say "slap that sauce on flip-flops and they would taste good" Lol. Not sure if that's the right words but you get the idea. It was just enough spicy with the taste of fresh apples and smokiness coming though. That's not a baby poutine for $10. It's hand cut double fried crispy French fries topped with cheese curbs and homemade (made in-house) Gravy.. it's a big portion packed with flavours. Will definitely try the bone marrow poutine next time. We will have to come back a few times to try more things on the menu. Small suggestion: possibly the spicy level of the sauces could be added next to the names of the item to guide the customers? Also, we were not offered wipes to clean the hands after eating. This could be a good addition considering the spiciness of some of the wings. Great new restaurant. Keep up...
