Came here to celebrate two birthdays. Reserved for a table of 8 on a Monday for Saturday night. Even called back 2 min after to confirm a small detail. Showed up with family and they didn't have my reservation. They were nice enough to put 2 tables together as the place was fully booked Feb 18 2023. There seemed to be only 4 waiters and 2 ladies whose purpose was to push a cart to deliver the food you ordered. We asked for water and it never arrived. They brought the soup but no soup bowls or soup spoons to eat it with. They were immensely short staffed. The owner wasn't friendly or helpful. We saw two tables of customers walk out after they waited over 30 minutes for someone to take their order. Was the bad service and lack of ambience worth it for the food? Not really. Don't recommend for customers to come here until they ironed out their issues. We brought 2 birthday cakes (one was ice cream cake) and our waiter was too busy to deal with it. He told me to leave it on the counter and he will take care if it. Poor guy was busy fighting fires and dealing with a long waiting line of customers at the door. Wondering why owner didn't hire a restaurant manager...didn't see one. The dining room is huge, estimated easily 30 tables of 8 people at 6 pm waiting for service from 4 wait staff and more comming through the door. We asked one of the cart ladies for soup spooning she said that's not my job, ask your waiter. We never saw our waiter again after he took our order. I asked hubby to take the cakes to the car because it was melting on the counter at the bar. The staff never noticed it was gone. An angry customer at a table of 8 with young kids blasted the server for ignoring them and serving others who arrived later. I don't blame him one bit. When food finally arrived after 1 hour, they were still waiting. When the restaurant emptied out at 8 pm, the angey table finally got their soup (2 hrs + after they arrived to the restaurant). I would not recommend to come here for any celebrations, the atmosphere and service will ruin it. Only come here if you love bad service, lack of atmosphere and long wait. Suggest to wait a few months and hope they've ironed out their issues by then and then read dinner reviews from others who came in a big group. Oh, and I fully expect the owner to lambast my honest review. Please enjoy these beautiful pictures of food. What happened to the cakes? We took them home to eat them with family...we didn't want to stay any longer than we had too. The meal was 388.00 and with tax and tip it was over 500.00 for 8 people (sooo, almost $50/dish for 8 dishes). Up to you to decide if that is worth it. A plus is portion size was generous but that's because the menu was for 10 people.

Located in a strip mall at the corners of Sources and Brunswick, Imperial is one of the very few West Island Chinese restaurants that serves Dim Sum...which is exactly why we chose it. It is a relatively recent addition to the restaurant scene in this area and had an interesting décor that intrigued us on the multiple times we drove by...it was beckoning. The restaurant is divided into two parts...the initial entrance area with Chinese opera mask murals draping the sides of one wall and a number of medium to smaller size (say 2-6 people) tables while a much larger rectangular hall-like space with larger (4-12 person) tables fill the room. It looks like the space was planned to have large banquets while still keeping a part of the restaurant open for regular patrons. Overall, the décor is nice although there is a somewhat industrial feel to the large space (where we ate). There is no paper menu. Scan the QR code on the paper provided by the hostess and then order from the mobile app. Anyone who scans can order but there will only be one bill for the table so make sure to coordinate your selection before hand (or just have one person in charge of the ordering...as we did). The order is transmitted to the kitchen directly and there is no interaction with a server to take your order. For DIM SUM, we found the menu options a bit limited with the traditional fare of steamed dumplings (filled with BBQ pork, shrimps or sweet custard), steamed beef with coriander, vegetable egg rolls and the like. The steamed dishes arrived very quickly but the fried ones took a fair amount of time (say 20 minutes or so). As mentioned, the offering was limited but the food was good. Service was perfunctory...as you'd expect in a Chinese restaurant. We arrived before the 11am opening and by the time we were seated just after opening the restaurant was full and there was a significant line by the time we left...so come early or be ready to wait. We will try Imperial for a dinner meal to see how it is at a later date. Enjoy!

This was our first time visiting this restaurant. We came on a Sunday at 5pm for dinner. Their online menu is mobile phone accessible and very easy to read and understand. The restaurant is inside a plaza lot with plenty of free parking. The interior was clean. The men's bathroom however, needs attention. The only two urinals were out of service, there was no hot water to wash your hands with, there was no paper towel to dry your hands with and the electric blower only blew cold air to dry your hands which was not bearable. The bathrooms hallway floor was in poor condition; the floating floor truly felt floating and it was patched up in several different locations. The restaurant is licensed to serve alcohol. Our server, the manager, was friendly and attentive and had a pleasant personality. We ordered Vegetable Spring Rolls, Hot and Sour soup, General Tao's Chicken, Ginger Shallot Lamb, Mapo Tofu with Spicy Sauce, String Beans Szechuan Style and rice. All the portion sizes are generous and is served on the Lazy Susan located on the center of the larger tables. All the dishes were well seasoned and very tasty! Later that evening we were all very thirsty most probably from the amount of sodium and MSG used in the cooking process. We will definitely return because the flavor of the food was truly delicious.

Dined here for take-out, 2x dim sum and CNY dinner. The food is the best Chinese food in the West Island. 2/3 full dining room during the week for dim sum. Ridiculously busy during the New Year weekend! We waited over an hour for a table. The place was swamped! The dim sum dishes seem to come out in batches, so a certain item would be mass cooked and served to the tables that ordered them. It resulted in extended waiting times. Some dishes were never served. They charge only on the items delivered as we were told.

For CNY dinner, we ordered the preset menu for 6ppl. We were served the soup first, as it should be. We had three main dishes before the appetizer arrived and they forgot the rice that went with the dinner. It seems as if the kitchen is very poorly coordinated. There is lack of management/organization and communication between the kitchen staff. Our bill had an error on it that may have been due to lack of experience. I am keeping the faith on this one even though the server assured me about the price of the item. I want to keep my rose coloured glasses on...

Our take out was very good in food quality and taste considering the food travelled in a closed container for about 15 minutes. However, some containers looked 2/3 full, as if someone decided to take a few bites before us.

I have been in contact with someone who manages the affairs of the restaurant and detailed my experiences. The person was very forthcoming and replied very quickly to my messages. They seem to be aware of the issues and are trying to iron out the shortcomings the best the can. The challenges stem from new staff and an inadequate amount of staff. The owners have spent a lot of time and money on this new location. I am sure they want to be around for years to come.

The food quality and taste are very good overall and some simply crazy delicious - ie, the string beans Szechuan style and the Peking Pork chops-OMG!

The chefs know what they are doing...the organization/coordination and servers need some help. But, I encourage you to give them a try despite some of the...
