!!!PERSONS OF COLOR BEWARE!!! As soon as my partner, a dark brown indigenous male, walked into the store, a shoppers drug mart employee, who I later found out is the cash supervisor Aurelia, began tailing him. I am an Asian female who stayed behind and watched Aurelia follow my partner from aisle to aisle for 20 min before stopping him as he walked to self checkout asking if he was looking for something. I joined my partner at the checkout and as we scanned our two items I stood sideways and saw Aurelia staring. I turned and stared her down. Sheaverted her eyes but continued staring as soon as I began turning my head away from her. My partner paid and I told him to wait outside. I asked Aurelia what reason did she have for following my partner around the store and she said she was just saying hi. She was unaware that I had been observing her for 20 minutes tailing him without greeting him. I told her I would let head office know and she smiled smugly saying alright thanks! I spoke with assistant manager megan who said “well there’s a lot of thefts downtown”. I asked her why Aurelia didn’t follow anyone else around and Megan said “I don’t know”. Racial profiling is against the law in Canada and shoppers drug mart should have policy to mitigate theft that doesn’t involve racial profiling and making customers feel unwelcome based on their skin color. I called head office as soon as I returned to my hotel. I spoke with Shannon and she apologized for the racism experienced in this shoppers drug mart. My case number is 17607825 and I look forward to further discussing our experience with senior management. I have attached my receipt for proof. After reading another account of racial profiling experienced by another customer at this location, and seeing that the assistant manager justifies racial profiling with high theft rates tells me this issue may be a training and management issue. Perhaps racial profiling IS policy at shoppers drug mart at 700 bay street.

Customer? Don’t bother calling about your inquiry. I received an email from Shoppers saying their rep would call me back. No one called. So I called myself, trying to book a test. They told me I should have called myself. Excuse me, your email saying quite the opposite? She said “well, I guess we postponed to call, now we are fully booked” Super not friendly and sort of mean, I am calling to get a service I paid for and follow instructions in your email and you do not even care. Bye

I like this Shoppers pharmacy. It's not as big as some other Shoppers locations and it only takes a minute to grab what you need and pay. Fast in and out = No time wasted! Store is open until 10 pm. Cashier ladies are pretty friendly and I have never seen a line up at this store. Review by RodenReviews

  • Do not visit this store if you are a Person of Colour*

I never write reviews, however I was compelled to this time.

During our most recent (and final) visit -- my partner was being clearly racially profiled by an employee, Noelle or Noel (a visibly ambiguous Asian, cis-male, mid to late 40s). Good thing he was wearing a name badge, otherwise he would not have voluntarily disclosed his name to us.

Throughout the entire 15-20 minutes of us shopping in the store, my partner was being followed and "inspected" by this employee.

Clearly, this had to do with the fact that she's black -- because when I (a white person) went to browse for other items, I was not followed.

When I was returning to my partner, Noel was still there; Watching.Her.Every.Move.

I observed his racist attitude and prejudice from afar -- and I cannot stay silent knowing that others may face similar harassment in the future by this absolutely revolting employee.

This person should not be representing Shoppers Drug Mart -- or quite frankly, any store.

Regrettably, this particular Shoppers has lost long-time local customers, and we will spread the message to our fellow neighbours in our building. Moreover, our colleagues at our hospital (which is right beside the store) will hear about this abhorrent behaviour, and so too will our friends that work in nearby hospitals.

Management, please review this employee's damaging behaviour and do something about...

We live nearby the pharmacy so we visit it a lot. Overall, all the staff are friendly and helpful, unfortunately there is a pharmacist assistant named (Jennifer) who, whenever we go, gives us a hard time. She is very arrogant, does not have any manners and is super rude. This is the third time we had an issue with this lady as we went to pickup a medication (that has been faxed to the pharmacy by the doctor on Jan 17 and we received a call from the pharmacy that they received the fax and informed us to come next day for pick up). Her answer was that the medication is not here and nobody ordered it with an angry tone!!! I don't mind picking up a medication another day but It is really easy to say " sorry there is a mistake , please come another day!" But instead of that she kept on insisting that she told us that yesterday ! although Nobody showed at the pharmacy yesterday and they simply called us to pick up the medication!!!!!! she is super confident in her excuses in a weird stupid way! And we get the same ugly treatment from her whenever she turns up at the counter.

Edit : We called the Number in shoppers reply below and spent an hour over the phone, the agent said the manager from the branch will call and it has been two months till now! They simply dont care , i will also simply move my business to...
