If I could give 0 stars I would. I usually go to the TD on York St. but because of Covid-19 its closed, so I went to this one. My story is, I used to have a chequing account with td, but they wouldn't override my hold on cheques that's more than $500 but less than a $1000 (fyi TD customers, tellers that you know and see often and you have regular cheques for a company you work for, they can override the hold because of the cheque history without checking your credit score) so I closed my chequing account with them many years ago but kept my credit card account with them. So anyway, the usual TD I go to on York St. still accepts my regular cheques without a chequing account, because the cheques are regular from my work, its trusted and its in the system without me having a chequing account. I go here to this branch and tell the teller to cash the cheque, and he looks at me and goes "how can I cash you this cheque if you don't have an account with us?". I told him I still have a credit card with TD and there should also be a history of cheques I cashed in with this company. He still gives me a confused look and says "what history if you don't have an account?" I tell him that all the branches that I have went to do this with no problem and advise him to double check with the manager to see if this is called something on their end (maybe there is a banking term im missing for this). And guess what, the manager is walking by when the teller asks him if this possible to do, they talked at a distance and didn't bother to approach me about the situation, the customer, to further investigate what I actually meant. No wonder the average rating for this branch is 2.5 stars!...
Read moreThey wouldn't accept a draft because some TD branch out in Hamilton didn't counter sign it. As I am not able to connect with the third party that provided me with that draft. Following were the solutions- -They were happy to mail my draft to that branch and wouldn't take ownership if it gets lost in the mail. Or they asked me to drive it down to Hamilton to get it counter signed. I cannot accept these solutions knowing that it was TD's fault and instead of working on it they are asking me to fix it for them. Mangers are there to look after these kind of situation, if it was only about following the rules, why do we need managers?? Financial representatives/Tellers can do that as well. She made a comment that we are helping you but they didnt have a solution that I can accept. Only reason I got that draft was because TD claims that it more secured and would be able to have access to those funds right away. Now I am standing here with TD's mess and impression seems to be like too bad to be in your shoes. I don't know why it seemed tough for them to talk to brach internally. I thought TD promotes "comfort" by have a green couch as there marketing symbol. Unless they think that driving to Hamilton is "very comfortable". While I was talking to them I saw a new promotion of $300 give away for new customers. If TD is really keen to grow, they should have better way to retain existing employees.
Recommendation- Making mistakes is not a problem nor if you are following rules . Problem is when you are not...
Read moreTerrible customer service and knowledge of their own products. Tried to open a locked-in RSP to transfer my pension, which requires me to do it in person. A number of their associates kept directing me to open it online but finally after personally calling the Direct Investing helpline they confirmed that it would have to be done in person. I then call the assigned associate/rep and despite him having access to my account and details, he asked me product specific information that he should know and most lay-people would not have knowledge of. Needless to say, I cancelled my appointment and contacted my original branch in Markham who had everything figured out for me within 24 hours.
In my experience the reps at this branch do not take any initiative and do not go out of their way to provide knowledgeable service. I've been with TD for over 20 years with products ranging from my first bank account to my mortgage and trading accounts, and I have never been so disappointed with the...
