2023 Update
In years past I had good experiences with the East End Garden Centre. But that changed. As I mention below, two years ago I was given a quote (twice) for firewood stacking, but when they billed me they charged double what they quoted. This year I ordered firewood at what was around the same price I always pay: about $250 dollars all together. But when the firewood was delivered, it was a small fraction of what I generally receive. So they're charging a lot more and delivering a lot less. Shame on me for getting burned twice. I've made a note to myself not to make the same mistake when it's time to order firewood again.
2021 Update
The East End Garden Centre is always reliable. I’ve had firewood delivered for years now. And the quality of the firewood is first rate. I’m disappointed, though, for the first time regarding the fee to stack the wood on my front porch. It’s always been a $50 fee. That’s what I was quoted when I ordered this year’s wood. But I was charged $100. When I telephoned about this the staff member said “Yes, $50 to stack.” “So why was I charged $100?” I asked. The manager came on the phone and told me that the East End Garden Centre has doubled the amount of the stacking fee. But not only did they not tell me, they twice quoted the old $50 fee—when I called to make the order and when I called to ask about the change. She said that the staff would be told to quote the new, doubled...
Read moreI recently bought some hanging plants and after a week or so at home the plant didn't look so good and I thought I should take it back. I spoke with Nancy who explained that it was because it hadn't been watered enough and actually took the plant out of the container and showed me what she meant.
Being a stubborn know it all man I couldn't accept that and I ended up being a jerk, the whole time Nancy was amazing and never let me get to her. I finally cooled down and agreed to take it back and water the hell out of it.
Well, of course she was right and I was a knucklehead and I made the trip back for more flowers and to apologize to her. These ladies are hard working, know their stuff when you ask them and even when you're a jerk they still keep their cool.
Thanks Nancy for your patience and help to make my garden and...
Read moreI recently reached out to East End Garden Centre for a pruning and trimming job, and I was impressed by how quickly they were able to accommodate my request. However, I must admit that the initial estimate they provided seemed a bit excessive, as it suggested a crew of 6 people and two trips for disposing of the clippings. In the end, only a crew of two people and one trip were needed to get the job done, and they completed the work in just 3 hours.
While the quality of the work was decent, I couldn’t help but feel that the overestimation of effort led to a higher price than I anticipated. It’s always important for businesses to provide accurate estimates to ensure transparency and build trust with customers. Despite the efficient execution of the task, I can’t help but think that the final cost didn’t quite match the...
