Dear Descendent Detroit Style Pizza Owner,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to share a troubling experience I had at Descendent Detroit Style Pizza that I believe merits your attention.

During a recent visit to pick up my order, I witnessed a staff member at the counter—a white woman with colored hair—treating another delivery driver quite rudely. This driver, an Uber Eats partner, was struggling without a delivery bag, so I stepped in to help by offering my spare pizza bag.

However, after completing my delivery, I found that your staff had reported me to Uber for not having a delivery bag, negatively impacting my rating. This is particularly concerning as I am a frequent customer of your restaurant and truly appreciate the food and service you provide.

It’s disheartening to see staff misuse their authority to mistreat others, especially those working hard to support their families. I don’t know what triggered her reaction; perhaps my act of kindness made her feel undermined in some way. Regardless, such behavior not only affects individual drivers but can also tarnish the reputation of your restaurant.

I encourage you to promote a culture of respect and support within your team, ensuring that all delivery personnel are treated with dignity. Thank you for taking the time to consider...

Went with a couple friends to try this Detroit style pizza. My friend is vegetarian and ordered the Truff-Ghi pizza with no bacon. I ordered the "no name" pizza. Due to the relatively small storefront, there are only 8 seats for dine-in. If you want to try the pizza at it's freshest, you may want to call ahead to find out if seats are available.

Truff-Ghi pizza has a very strong mushroom and garlic flavor, which goes really well with the creamy sauce. It retains the defining feature of wet toppings and crispy dough with a cheesy, earthy twist.

"No Name" pizza is a more traditional cheese pie, with loads of Italian sausage chunks, thick cut pepperoni slices and heavy drizzle of hot honey. It tasted better than any deep dish pizza I found within downtown Toronto. The dollop of ricotta adds to the wet topping while providing a cheesy flavor that balances with tomato sauce.

Small pizzas are 8" x 10", large pizzas are 10" x 14". Everyone at the table ordered a large pizza so we can share and try slices with different toppings. If you are going by yourself, I recommend getting just a small pizza. It is definitely enough to be a large meal for 1 person.

I am very excited to try pizzas with different toppings next time. If you pass by the neighborhood, don't miss out on this deep dish...

Literally, THE BEST pizza spot in Toronto! 🍕

Nestled halfway between The Beaches and the Distillery District, my friend and I tried a few pies: The “No Name”, the “Truff Guy”, and “Daddy’s Favourite”.

Verdict: Every pie was outstanding and had something uniquely different to them. It was my first time trying Detroit style pizza and it surpassed all my expectations! The best way I could describe it was this pillowy dough in the center with a crunchy exterior, yet light and airy. My favourite ones were the “No Name” and “Truff Guy” pies. If you’ve never had Detroit style pizza, now’s your chance to bring a friend or two and enjoy a night out!

Tip: I would definitely recommend ordering the smaller-sized pies (4 squares), so you can order a few different ones and happily sample them individually, instead of the larger 8-squared ones. My friend and I did this and it worked out perfectly. I’d also recommend ordering each pie one-by-one because the tables are quite small and won’t fit 3 different pizzas, our plates, and drinks in one go.

Additionally, the service was amazing and the staff were so friendly! It felt like a homey, neighbourhood spot with great vibes! Would definitely come back and try a few more different pies!

Thank you so much for the cool...
