We go to H-Mart in Richmond's Aberdeen Centre, and were surprised to find this one on Dunbar. Parking is underground from the rear lane. The main difference I found is this location does not have as much ready-to-eat options as Aberdeen which makes sense as it is not as big. H-Mart is interesting, being a Korean-American chain, in that it carries products made in Korea, Japan, and China. If you cannot read the symbol language, just check on the front or back for 'Made in xxx'. For example, in one of my pictures you can see Japanese Style Somen made in China. There are always some surprises especially with snacks/sweets-Peach Oolong Oreos?! I am a fan of the Kirin Kitchen drinks and H-Mart is one of the few stores I can find the Salty Lychee drink. The proteins are very good, especially the meat. We often buy thin sliced beef for Korean and Japanese dishes. The quality and style of meat/trimming is worth the cost. The variety of kimchi is great of course-I did not know there were so many options. We buy a lot of Japanese dry food and Japanese condiments from H-Mart. They also carry beauty products/toiletries, along with small appliances. So rule of thumb is check 'Made in xxx' before you buy, if that matters to you. You could buy each product in country-specific supermarkets but it is nice to have products all in one store. Daniel

This Korean mart is pretty useful place for Asian foods. They have many of promotions consistently. You can find some of great deals. But there are not enough local products but expensive... like eggs, milk, ham, pops.. That’s why I have to go the other place to get some of dairy and meat. You can get better price for Ramen, Seaweed, Ambrosia apple. The aisles are pretty narrow and que line as well. You can park front of building and basement for the back side. And They selling some pre-cooked food beside of shelf. I can not say that delicious. Sorry.

I buy my groceries here because it’s close to where I live. Catch the sales on weekends, but there is always some thing on sale every day. You can buy an assortment of seafood and meats. There’s a nice selection of Korean as well as Japanese snacks and beverages. They also have a bbq Chicken bistro behind the supermarket!

Many unpleasant encounter with the rudest / disapproving cashier later… here’s their zero star rating.

It seems that most the staff here are bi-lingual speakers in Korean & mandarin (or mainlanders fluent in Korean?) regardless, every time I make a rare visit to the hmart dunbar it seems that the cashier really hates her job.

My encounter this weekend left me slightly baffled, offended as a paying customer and triggered me to write to Hmart. Experience as follows: Saturday afternoon quick trip for a few missing ingredients for dinner, finished shopping, proceeds to cash, small total but I only have one big bill to pay with, cashier asks if I can pay in another way and I say no with cash in hand. She takes my bill and under her breath expresses that I’m “pissing her off” in Chinese tosses me my change.

I leave baffled not knowing how to react - did I really take that from a cashier ?! Apparently yes. Highly recommend avoiding this hmart at all cost to save yourself from an unpleasant experience with people who obviously hates their job second to not know their place...

H mart is a great place to purchase the unusual Korean items that you've always been looking for their produce is usually very beautiful but on the pricey side their seafood is a little bit pricey as well I usually only go there for their sale items as they're pretty well priced they do have a small take out section which is very good but I wish they had a better bigger and better selection the Dunbar location is incredibly small the location on North road in Burnaby is like 10 times the size And obviously you get 10 times the selection price wise I could not do my daily shopping here cause it's just too expensive when you walk in the door you smell the beautiful roasted sweet potatoes I bet you they are delicious They're pretty friendly here there's lots of free parking which is fantastic in the front of the store Wonderful selection of unusual delicious Korean style...
