Charles Quality Meats — Local services in Waterloo

I usually go to this butcher because it’s Halal, especially when my mom is visiting. In the past, I’ve bought beef stew and ground beef that were decent — though the ground beef sometimes had some hard fatty pieces. However, I recently bought a pack of frozen beef burgers, and I was really disappointed. The taste and texture reminded me of the cheap frozen burgers I used to buy as a student.

It’s frustrating to see that not everything here is good quality. It feels like many Halal butchers assume their customers don’t care about quality, which isn’t true. I really hope they improve their products, because finding a Halal butcher with consistent, high-quality meat...

My mom went a placed an order of 50 Pigtails the last week of July for a pickup on Aug 14. My mom went to the store to pick up the order and the young lady there said that they did not have them. She them proceeded to call another Butcher (Stemmler Meats) to see if they had the quantity that my mom had order and they did. The young lady at the store apologized over and over again for the mistake, I need to say it was not her fault if the owner of the company didn't get the order done, this is the second time this has happened with this Butcher (thought we would give him a second chance) I guess going on holidays so you don't face the music when you screw up us...

Stopped by Charles Quality Meats for the first time and picked up a couple of rib eyes, easily some of the best beef I’ve ever had. Grilled them that evening and the quality was outstanding.

What really stood out was meeting Tony, the owner. He took the time to share his story, their history as a family-run business, their farm, and their roots in the community. You can tell how much pride and passion he has for what he does. It was truly a pleasure to support such an honest, local business.

I’ll definitely be a regular customer going forward. Highly recommend checking them out, either at their shop or at St. Jacobs Market. Thanks...
