I first started visiting Vertical Adventures in February 2021 and I have since become a monthly member. I love the frequent visits to the gym and being able to watch and learn from other climbers. VA has been amazing for growing my climbing abilities and skills over the past 6 months.
There are lots of different climbing walls for all skill levels and offering various challenges. There are multiple bouldering areas with newer padding, roped climbs with auto belays (8 routes currently), and a handful of top rope climbs, offering a lot of variety do all types of climbers. The entire gym has been freshly painted and updated and looks great! I liked the various murals on the walls as well. You can rent climbing shoes and harnesses here or bring your own.
I love that they frequently change the routes to make things interesting and add new challenges. The climbing staff and community are a very welcoming and friendly bunch of people and I thoroughly enjoy the community aspect of climbing as well and learning from others.
You must book your spot online before coming. Masks are mandatory as per the Manitoba health orders. The monthly memberships are very reasonably priced (around $60) which gives you unlimited access to the gym (it is worth it if you go at least once a week). They also offer 10 pass punch cards or you can pay individually for each visit.

You should consider booking a staff member to hold the ropes for your group if none of you have belayed before.
Our group had men and women, a variety of body types, fitness levels, and physical strength, and we were very happy we all succeeded in climbing to the top of at least one route. There's a wide variety of route difficulties for all types, with everything from easy holds on walls that leans forward a bit, to mixed-difficulty holds on backward-leaning walls, all the way up extremely challenging routes where you have to under-hang from a ceiling, from very small grips. A few of the regulars where there climbing at a very advanced level which was super-inspiring to watch.
It was great to get out of the office for a unique experience, and we all have a greater appreciation now for just how challenging, satisfying, and nuanced climbing is....
