First time ordering from Jeepney. Ordered their Bagnet Kare-Kare as I heard pretty good thing about it.
Order was placed as I was leaving Selkirk Golf Course. The apps said about 35 mins for my order to be ready. Order placed at 4:49PM. I arrived at 5:22PM and the staff at the front counter said it wasnt ready yet and to wait. I was not offered a table to wait so I just helped myself. I wasnt even offered a glass of water. I have no problem waiting but I was only expecting to wait an 5-10 mins max.
This is when things got interesting. An older couple in front of me looked pretty annoyed. I overheard them trying to explan to the waitress, who is not of Filipino descent, that their food that came out was wrong and it wasn't what they ordered. That was their first attempt. In a span of 15 mins they probably tried to explain to the waitress they didnt want what came out.
Finally a Filipina lady came out of the kitchen, who assume is the owner, and she went to the couple and all I heard was "oh it's the waitress fault because she didnt write your order correctly". Well it's your staff that you hired so whos really at fault here.
Another couple who just arrived asked about when the dinner buffet starts and the waitress said 630, but the couple said isnt it usually at 6pm. The waitress just said no today is 630pm. The filipina lady who was speaking with the first couple then told this couple "it's usually at 6 but im busy today so 630".
Oh also when I first walked i there was a group of 6 people who were just chatting. I assume they were friends. They had no food or drinks or anything. I saw one of them get up and grabbed a menu herself from the front counter. Hello waitress??? Then about 10 mins later they called out to the waitress that they were ready to order.
Another thing I noticed was there were flies buzzing everywhere. I was constantly waving my hands to keep them away.
So finally after 68 minutes my single order came out. 68 minutes!!! And the waitress didnt even aplogize for my wait.
As for the Banget Kare Kare. It was a 7 out of 10 for me and this is the only reason im giving them 2 stars. It was decent but not spectacular. The pork belly was good and still had a nice crispy crunch to it but the sauce was overpowering with peanut butter. Not to mention they did not even provide any bagoong which other restaurants always includes.
Such a shame. My first time trying Jeepney will definitely be my last. It might have been a bad day for them but this was one of worst experiences ive had of any Filipino establishments...
Read moreWE REALLY LIKE THEIR FOOD. However, every time we come in staff doesn’t seem to have good team communication. No matter how good the food is we can never seem to relax and have a peaceful meal bcos staff seems always stressed out and all over the place and there’s always something wrong or missing with our orders too.
Back of the house and front should coordinate with each other And someone should come and check the tables if they’re doing okay cos most of the time there’s always orders missing, it only takes a few minutes to go around and check the tables, if this done long wait times for “missed” orders and stress on both parties can be prevented. My dad had the same experience , he waited for an hour for an order that was never even put in.
We came in once as a large table and there were people before us waiting however this lady seemed to prioritize us and had forgotten about all the other tables waiting , she talked to us the whole time yet never bothered to check on the other tables. We got our skarmbol orders before this one family, they’ve been waiting for a while the dad had to come up at the front cos his kids have been asking for it, no one even bothered to tell him that they’ve already run out of ice and he’s not getting skarmbol s anymore.
Food’s really good. But service not so, the lack of service is starting to overshadow the taste of their food. I love their restaurant, I never intended to leave a review, but we’ve been contemplating on whether back we should even go back. We don’t wanna lose a good resto to eat in that’s why our family wanted to put our two cents in for...
Read moreMy first experience at jeepney. By far the worst filipino restaurant. Food had this culinary filipino fusion. Hated it. They had shawarma. Thats not even filipino. Too much culinary fancy fusion. Missing the point of filipino. Portions were terribly small and ackward. They had this lechon baka or cow and it was like shredded. It was like flakey. Too small and not enough and hard tasteless. They lechon was similar. We had lugaw that was probably the only decent one. We also had batchoy. Wife had few bites. She didnt like it. Absolutely waste of money. 85 dollars. Down the drain. Order was slowwwwwwwwwwww. There was 18 of us and food wasnt coming all at the same time. All came at seperate times. Bathroom was disgusting. Honestly the restaurant looks runned down. Looks like someone just did a patch up job. No personal hate towards the owners or the chef. But alot of things they need to change. The jeepney name doesnt go with the food. Or change the food to go with the name. The food is tied to filipino food but its not too much change and no longer has the sense of filipino. Remove the shawarma. Makes no sense. Extend the menu and upsize the meat portions. Dont sell or offer things on menus when you dont have the item available. Super huge peeve I have with...
