If I could give zero, I would. My usual sushi spot was closed today, so I made the mistake of trying Kimchi Sushi—the worst decision of my day. From the very start, the experience was a nightmare. I called ahead to place my order for yam tempura rolls, and the phone interaction was unbelievably rude. The lady kept insisting my phone number wasn’t Canadian because it didn’t start with 204 or 431. I’ve had this number for 9 years—it’s an Ontario number. Instead of listening, she argued with me like I didn’t know my own number. Then came the pricing drama. The website says $8 per plate, but she told me my total was $34 for two rolls. When I questioned it, she snapped back that it was “taxes.” Sorry, but math is not mathing, lady—$20 in taxes for $16 worth of food? Make it make sense. When I got to the restaurant, I asked again about the price discrepancy, and she admitted others have complained too and that their website “needs to be updated.” Still, she charged me the full $34. I opened my order and it wasn’t even what I asked for. When I pointed it out, she argued AGAIN, blaming me for “ordering wrong” (even though I had confirmed multiple times). After all that, she remade my order and charged me correctly this time—$18 for two rolls. So why the runaround in the first place?
And after all this nonsense, the food itself was terrible. The rice was stale, the rolls were bland, and honestly, I’ve had better sushi from a grocery store. Read moreWent with a group of friends on a weekday due to the rare occurrence of having a 1.5 hour lunch break. When we arrived at 11:40 there were a couple of other tables seated already. However, we had to wait till the server had "everyone else settled in" to take our orders. Once she did come around to us at the back table she said sorry and that she "had just come back from vacation" (we weren't too sure if this was meant to be an excuse for forgetting about us). We got our soup after about 20 minutes, but by 12:30 we still had not gotten our sushi. We asked if our food could be boxed up as we had to leave. They said yes and that it was almost ready. By 12:45 we asked if we could pay as our lunch break was almost over. Server begrudgingly said we'd get a 10% discount after we asked due to the slow service, but wasn't able to figure out how to apply it on the computer. By 12:55 we had to leave to return to work and our food was not ready or packed up (yet a good portion of other tables who arrived after us had been served). When we mentioned that this was pretty inconvenient, one of the chefs said that we should have known to pre-order. Will not be returning here (and spreading the word) as we received terrible service and couldn't even get our food after waiting over an hour. Read moreMy parents ordered their new korean dish but did not end up liking it. The pork based soup tasted fishy, and something was really off about it, so my parents let the server know. One of the servers told us that we will have to pay a partial amount because we ate some of it (we barely ate it, food was barely touched). My dad ended up ordering another dish. We are not picky eaters and this has been the first time my parents returned a dish.
When we were about to pay, they charged us a full amount and denied that they said they will charge us the partial amount. My mom asked if we can just take the dish home because we are paying the full price. They said they threw it out already and claimed we still have to pay full amount despite the fact that we barely ate it. My mom had to explain to them that it's unfair because we barely touched the food, so if we are paying the full amount, we should be able to take it home. It took a while for them to agree to not charge us. I work at a restaurant and if a customer is not satisfied with the food, we just replace it and we usually dont charge for the barely touched food. Another one of their crews was sitting on the side shaking his head while my mom was telling them it's unfair to charge us the full amount. Will not be returning here, service...
