IKEA Santo Domingo was the perfect place to find details to decorate your place but not anymore. Two funny things happened on my recent visit. The first one was that I went to purchase a chair that I took a picture of the price and 2 weeks after I return to get the chair instead of the prices to go down because of the economics difficulties due to pandemic, the prices went up and flying like rocket, showing a chair price that went from $8000 to almost $12000Dominican pesos, almost $4000 pesos more than the previous price. The same thing with a desk I took a picture of from my previous review. Price went up almost $4000 pesos more. It’s ridiculous. When I showed the picture with the difference in price. The representative just told me: well that’s the price now and there is nothing we can do. Either you get it or you don’t. Nasty attitude. The cashiers needs more costumer service training. They need to understand they are not selling their personalities, rather they are representing IKEA philosophy that I think it is to make the costumers feel welcomed and with the desire to always return for something more…! Prices are too be more affordable. I just took a picture of a beautiful sofa but I was shocked at the price $164,000 pesos at IKEA waooooo, outrageous! It seems like IKEA is competing in elevated prices with...

Fraud Alert.
When you buy an item, it is obvious that the price you expect to pay is the one on the label, and not the one the establishment decides to set at the time of payment. Well, at IKEA Santo Domingo they have taken it upon themselves to make sure that the item is marked with one price and then when you check your invoice it has another (more expensive of course).
I went to customer service with a photo of the item with its price tag to complain, and like every scammer, they gave me the cheap excuse that although it is the same item, the code is different and that they cannot give it to me at the price that is marked on the shelf. I claim that this is not my problem, that they have to honor the price with which the item is marked,,, again with their cheap excuse of the code,,,, I ask to speak to the manager or a supervisor, and they tell me that they are in a meeting, (obviously, thieves never show their faces).
After wasting more than 30 minutes with cheap arguments, they did the only thing they could do, give me my money back, and they are so shameless that they ask me if they can help me with anything else.
How many of you check that the item you chose at a certain price was charged at that price? How many times have you bought things and when you get home you are surprised that the bill was much more than you expected? The answer is, they put a price on the label, and when you pay for another more expensive item,,,, take a photo of the items with their price, so you can verify it after paying. Yes, it sounds a bit tedious, but if you don't mind being ROBBED, don't check it. Here I leave you a photo so you can verify what I'm saying. Mine was a minimal amount, but in a store where there are items that one alone can cost 50,000, imagine the theft that this store has. BE CAREFUL, BE VERY CAREFUL WITH IKEA...

BEWARE OF people that shop for small stuff like a flower vase or a single plastic flower...and put on dark sunglasses specifically at checkout.
long story short: the last time I shopped there, I had my phone stolen while shopping INSIDE of the store. How do I know this? Simple, I use Uber, and so when I was about to pay for my stuff I wanted to order my Uber and I couldn't bc my phone wasn't anywhere. Mind you I had a purse, and I always keep it closed.
What's heartbreaking is that I received no help from the customer service team when I asked to see the camera footage. The only people who made an effort where the security personnel, who were kind enough to escort me to the areas I was shopping at to help me find my phone in case it was on the floor or something similar.
I have more people who have confirmed this has been happening for a bit over a year now (think pandemic) and they have not done anything about it to help the customers or protect our right to safety...
