Arles À La Carte — Local services in Arles

This was my first French Immersion experience. I stayed for a month and took a class each day for 1 1/2 hours and usually went on another excursion in the city of Arles with a teacher to experience the culture/venue. I was given a schedule with all of my classes at the school and meetings in the city of Arles so that I knew where to be and when. If I had any questions they would be quickly addressed. The support staff is incredibly nice and helpful with everything and the atmosphere of the whole school is one of kindness and 'what can I do to help you' graciousness. The location of the school was good but the space was small and cramped. However, the good news is that the school is moving to a brand new building in May that is going to be beautiful. The teachers were extremely caring and helpful. The backdrop of the city of Arles was magnificent for learning on many levels. I loved being able to easily get around the city and enjoyed the history/sights during my month long stay. I have attended Arles à la Carte language school twice, in 2022 and again in 2024, and had a fantastic experience both times! The teachers are energized, engaging, and very patient. In addition to daily French conversations in class, they employed various methods which were helpful and fun such as audio clips and educational games-conversation cube and cards. Each day I looked forward to going to class, and when I left class, I felt a sense of accomplishment and growth. For me, the best part was the one-on-one individualized instruction which very much facilitated my progress. The teachers encouraged me, motivated me and gave me tools to take with me upon completion of my course there so that I can continue to further develop my French language skills. Upon reflection, I feel that I made quick progress in a short time and was very pleased with my decision to attend school there both times. I look forward to returning to Arles à la Carte. My daughter and I had an absolutely wonderful experience and look forward to coming back. I have studied French. She is a new French learner. My goal was to give her a small taste of study abroad. Our challenge was to find the right school to work with us to create a program that challenged us given our varying levels. And yet we wanted it to be a shared experience. After extensively researching other options around Southern France, we chose Arles a la Carte and were not disappointed. They cheerfully created a program that challenged us both at our individual levels, both in the class and beyond. They also took us into the town to learn about the culture, history, and cuisine of Arles. The instructors were accommodating, engaging and knowledgeable.
