Archives municipales et Musée du Mont de Piété — Local services in Avignon

This is a cultural and heritage archival research center that preserves documents for the city of Avignon since 1577. Their goal is to preserve the history of the city and its inhabitants.

In this building is also a small museum in a 17th century pawnshop. There are many photos in the courtyard and surrounding the building from the 1924 Paris Olympics.

There is a good exhibit on the packaging of silk from the mid nineteenth century. The silk industry started in France in the 15th century.

All written explanations in the museum are in French. The researchers are extremely helpful but speak only French.
