Staying at Les Anges was the absolute highlight of our trip to France this winter. Having spent several weeks this holiday season in Paris with family, my husband and I decided to travel to Provence together for a couple of weeks in January to decompress on our own, and explore the south of France. Avignon was clearly the perfect first stop for this aspect of our trip.
Having read countless reviews of dozens of spots in Avignon, Stephan’s gorgeous apartment absolutely stood out by a mile, not only for the gloriously elegant decor and central location, but for the stream of consistently rave reviews about the host and owner, Stephan.
We were completely impressed with his communication leading up to our stay, from sending comprehensive lists of his favorite restaurants in the area (and going the extra mile to make reservations for us) to picking us up from the train station (fresh muffins in tow!) and delivering us to his apartment, showing us all the ins and outs of how everything works. He had chilled champagne and olives in the fridge to welcome us, gorgeous little treats and chocolates to enjoy to our liking, and port at the ready for an after dinner digestif… We felt like we were being welcomed into the home of a family friend! Truly, we have never before encountered such an enchanting host, and we are veteran travelers!
The apartment: It is indeed centrally located, at the heart of Avignon yet on a very quiet residential street. No loud crowd noises in the evenings or mornings, we slept with the windows open to enjoy the evening breeze without any issue. The decor is old world Parisian glamour… From the antique furnishings, artwork and fixtures, to the stunning black and white marble flooring. The kitchen is perfectly appointed with an amazing espresso machine that grinds fresh beans for every cup (yes, coffee lovers— rejoice in this!) and while we didn’t cook here we easily could have prepared simple meals with the stovetop and kitchenware provided. We simply chose to enjoy the incredible restaurants Stephan recommended and were very, very glad we did. Remarkable, all in their own unique ways.
The shower pressure and accoutrements he provided were fantastic, the blow dryer was of professional caliber strength, which I truly appreciated after suffering the wall mount variety in our Parisian hotels, and for all English speaking travelers, there is Netflix provided in ENGLISH, which was a treat after weeks of French Television. We watched a movie our last night and it felt like home!
I can’t emphasize enough that Stephan our host is an absolute delight. His passion for and incredible breadth of knowledge about not only Avignon but the entire area, was remarkable. He offers comprehensive day trips to tour all over Provence, catered to what we wanted to see and with many “surprises” thrown into the mix. We took two day trips during our stay and we saw Provence in a way we never could have dreamed of had we tried to map it out on our own. We learned so much of the history, the people, the hidden gems that only a local historian could provide. He is a marvelous storyteller, and I can’t recommend this offering more highly, it was an invaluable adventure that we will never forget.
Thank you, Stephan, for opening up your glorious home to us, and for your great care and help throughout our stay. We would stay nowhere else when we return, are already looking forward to it, and exploring with you again! Date of stay:...

First let me say that I have been remiss in delaying my review of this fabulous property and host. Apologies Stephan! My husband and I visited Provence for the first time this April . Le Anges Deluxe Avignon proved to be the perfect home base for our five night stay in the region. Our host Stephan Caso met us at the TGV station and transported us directly to his extremely well appointed apartment in the heart of Avignon. This luxurious apartment is truly a five minute from almost anything within the city walls. The host had lots of snacks, wine, champagne and cognac (and some divine chocolate cover almonds) awaiting our arrival. The in suite washing machine and drying rack were a godsend for those who travel light as we do. Having an Italian espresso machine with fresh ground coffee was an over the top bonus. As for Stephan? Where do I begin? From the moment we met, we felt as those we were in the company of an old friend. Truly a more humble and gracious host could not be found. He went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. He made dinner recommendations (and reservations) and that were spot on (especially highly recommend the La Mirande table haute.) We took two full day private tours with him and were able to see and do so much more than we could have on our own. He is very knowledgeable and passionate about the region, and you can feel the joy he takes in sharing his love of the history and charm of Provence with his guests. He knows all the special spots that you don't necessarily find in the guide books. He takes great photos. He even helped us rearrange our multi train outbound itinerary to a single direct TGV to Nice. I consider him more a dear friend than just a host. Since we have returned I have enthusiastically recommended Stephan and his lovely home to many of my friends and colleagues. Here's hoping for a big wave of bookings my friend!Truly an exceptional...
Read moreMy husband and I celebrated our 25th anniversary with a trip to France. We spent months researching and planning. Our trip began in Paris, then to Lyon, and the grand finale - four nights in Avignon. We are so thankful to have discovered Stephan and his wonderful property! There are truly not enough words to describe how wonderful our experience was! While the accommodations were incredible, and the location was perfect, what truly set our experience apart was our host! Stephan was so communicative and helpful from the first time we spoke while planning, up to the day we left. He made sure that we had a personalized experience, tailor made for us. From the moment he greeted us at the train station to the moment he escorted us back to the train station for our departure, no detail was spared. Every meal he arranged for us was an absolute delight. Any place that we visited per his recommendation was absolutely worth the visit. And the two days that we spent with Stephan exceeded all expectations! We chose two full day tours with Stephan - one historical day and one wine day. He is a wonderful and knowledgeable tour guide, and his stories of the places we visited added such richness and color to the experience. Stephan made the history and beauty of Avignon and Provence truly come alive for us! The castles, Roman ruins, wineries, quintessential French villages…I could go on and on! Thanks to Stephan, this was truly the trip...
