This is a review from an American traveling with a toddler
I came into Avignon on a Sunday night at around 9pm so already limited options for decent dining. I called this restaurant to ask if we could come in at 9:30pm and she told us she would wait for us since that was a little past their time on a sunday. We finally arrived to the hotel to drop off all luggage and were ready to head there at 9:20 so I called to let her know we were running a little late and still she said it was ok she would wait for us. I ended up staying at hotel since my toddler fell asleep so my husband and father in law went and wow were they impressed with the food. They ordered the pork fillet and vegetable ravioli. They said both were the best meals they eaten that included vegetables everything was mouth watering. They ordered me the pesto pasta the ravioli and the cheesecake. I have to say I have never tried a vegetable ravioli that I liked and this exceeded my expectation. So much flavor but light at the same time. They pair them with a side of vegetables that compliment the dish well. I was really impressed I wasn’t sure what to expect from the restaurant.. I saw they had good reviews but now I can be another to attest to what a great place this is. Thank you Mamma Corsica for such a great meal for our first...
Read moreHaving never been to a Corsican restaurant before (only having cooked a couple Corsican dishes in the UK with UK produce from British cookery books whilst never having yet visited Corsica) we were delighted by what we experienced. Beautifully laid out interior nicely decorated. Exceptional food with generous portion sizes. We enjoyed the Corsican charcuterie selection as a shared starter (highly recommended and definitely enough for 2 with no need for another starter) which offered delicious strong flavours distinct from commonly available traditional European smoked/cured meats. Served with a well dressed and refreshing salad. Veal & olive stew and filet mignon pork (served slightly pink owing to its freshness and quality similar to a Spanish secreto/presa Iberico pork fillet) cooked in figs and hazelnuts were both superb. All mains come generously accompanied with potatoes (roasted and puréed) and vegetables (braised fennel, mushrooms, courgettes and carrots stewed for hours in rich red wine sauces). Good wine selection with many Corsican options (all superb. Definitely try the Cap Corse herbal liqueur too). Good service (not bad, not exceptional) and great location. Open 7 days a week until late. We were lucky enough to book on the day but this place gets busy so booking in advance would...
Read moreI had reserved a table for 10 adults and 2 children via email. As some of my party arrived shortly before I did, the staff appeared to have forgotten then hastily remembered the reservation.
We had shared a mixed meats platter which we had shared. We then waited over an hour for our mains. We asked twice about the food. Our party ordered 6 of the same pork meal. After an hour, the meals came and they were barely warm. We were so hungry and just all silently ate.
Eventually they came to clear the plates and we were asked how the meal was. I just answered that we all felt it had been cold. I was very rudely told that I should have said something when we got the food. I responded that we had been so hungry that we just ate it. We were then basically told that we should understand that it is festival time - they kept seating more people despite the kitchen clearly not coping - and that since we ate it it must have been hot. She then stormed off. Very childish and totally lacking in customer service. None of the food had been particularly tasty either so definitely not...
