Major Problems:||1. We were locked out of the hotel for 20 -30 minutes at 11:30 pm.||- Arrived before 11:30a and rang the buzzer (we could hear it ringing inside)||- Perhaps they’re in the restroom - we waited a few minutes, we rang and knocked again. ||- We waited longer, “double rang” the buzzer, longer and harder. We knock louder, loud enough I felt rude!||- We peeked through the curtains at the front desk - no one. ||- Perhaps they forgot to tell us about another entrance: walk around to the left, walk back around to the right. Knocked and rang again. ||- After trying all that, we made an intentional phone call - from my call history, 7 minutes in total no answer…||- Finally desperate and considering other options my wife knocked on the outside reception window itself by the font desk, and the attendant popped up.||This is dangerous and unacceptable. And when we spoke to the reception on staff at the time she made every effort to blame us, it’s why I outline the story, so management knows we “properly rang the bell”… and knocked, multiple times. And called! Trip Advisor doesn’t allow me to upload the screenshot of the phone call. ||2. The internet is incredibly slow - thankfully I wasn’t trying to work, if I was it’d have been an impossibility, still general searching was frustratingly slow.||Minor Issues: ||I normally wouldn’t include any one of these on their own, they’re silly little things, but in total and in combination with being locked out - and it being a 5 star hotel - they’re included.||More than half the outlets in the room didn’t work. The toilet didn’t flush properly. The sink drain was fully plugged which we had to disassemble to correct. We asked for a steamer and an adapter and just got the adapter. They forgot to replenish our water the 2nd night. Room service walked in on us in bed. The bed was two twins not a king. The train pickup driver was rude and unfriendly.||We booked a wine tour through the hotel, which repeatedly confirmed a 9:00 start by email. It actually began at 9:30. The hotel blamed us stating the tour guide arranged with us directly, but since the hotel managed our booking, they should have communicated any changes and reset our expectations.||Checkout was slow and poorly handled. We were in a hurry for our train, reception was unfamiliar with processing room charges “my colleague hasn’t shown me”, I had to explain what, how much, and why I should be paying… and then she proceeded to blame me for payment issues(“you pressed the red button”) instead of owning the problem(no paper). The lack of accountability and efficiency made for a very frustrating experience. And I’m realizing now that the credit wasn’t applied to charges.||3 separate instances of lack of accountability I think is what got me the most.||The good:||It’s really a shame because the hotel, garden and decor is stunningly beautiful, reminded me of The Grand Budapest Hotel. The location is perfect, the breakfast was excellent, we ate at the Michelin restaurant on site...

We recently stayed at Hôtel La Mirande and were truly impressed by its elegance, charm, and unbeatable location. Nestled right next to the Palais des Papes, the hotel feels like stepping into another century—with period décor, antique touches, and an ambiance that transports you back in time in the best way possible.||||🌟 What We Loved Most||The location and the historic atmosphere were by far the highlights of our stay. Being able to walk out the door and be within steps of Avignon’s most iconic landmarks was incredible. The hotel itself is stunning, with rich character throughout—from the architecture to the garden courtyard and common rooms filled with antiques.||||🛏️ Room & Service||Our room was spacious, beautifully furnished, and very comfortable. The bed and pillows were soft, which made for a great night’s sleep after a long day of sightseeing. The overall quality of the room lived up to expectations.||||The staff was warm and welcoming, and everyone we interacted with was friendly and helpful. That said, we did run into one hiccup during our stay. We requested a bucket of ice to chill a bottle of champagne and called the front desk twice—but after waiting about an hour, it never arrived. Eventually, we took the bottle to the bar ourselves, and they were kind enough to help us out. It wasn’t a huge issue, but for a hotel of this caliber, we were surprised by the lack of follow-through on that request.||||🧴 A Small Suggestion||If we could change one thing, it would be the towels. While they looked elegant and matched the refined aesthetic of the hotel, they weren’t very soft. Swapping them out for high-end, plush towels would really elevate the comfort level and align better with the rest of the luxury experience.||||🔐 A Note on the Neighborhood||The hotel itself felt very secure, and we never felt unsafe. However, we did notice a fairly visible homeless presence in the surrounding area, particularly near the major landmarks. It didn’t negatively impact our trip, but it did slightly change the tone of some of our walks—especially in the evening. Something for future guests to be mindful of.||||Overall:||Despite a few small areas for improvement, we had a wonderful stay and would absolutely recommend Hôtel La Mirande to anyone visiting Avignon. It’s a unique, atmospheric place that perfectly blends history, location, and comfort. We hope to return one day—and maybe book one of the rooms with those dramatic...

I'm truly disappointed to write this review about our recent stay at La Mirande Hotel, especially given the fantastic experience we had just two years ago. Unfortunately, this visit was nothing short of a disaster. The room was a major letdown. Not only did the desk lamp run dangerously hot without actually turning on, but attempting to unplug it revealed exposed wires haphazardly wrapped with electrical tape. Neither the TV nor the phone worked, and when we reported these issues to the front desk, we were met with an unhelpful attitude and no solutions. To make things worse, housekeeping removed the faulty light fixture and phone but didn’t bother replacing them. After dinner, when the TV still refused to function, we had to walk back to the front desk to have someone come and unplug it just to turn it off, an inconvenience that really shouldn't happen at a hotel of this caliber. Trying to get a drink before dinner was equally frustrating. The bar seemed understaffed, much like our last visit, and we were told it would be a 30-minute wait due to a group tour ahead of us. This is simply unacceptable, especially when paying premium prices. Upon checkout, we requested to speak with the manager regarding our unpleasant experience, but instead of addressing our concerns, we were simply handed a business card and told to call next time. While the property still retains its magical charm, it sadly felt a bit dusty and neglected this time around. At these prices, one would expect a room that functions properly and a staff that's attentive to the needs of its guests. Unfortunately, this visit to La Mirande Hotel did not rise to those expectations. Here's hoping they address these issues promptly so future guests can enjoy the experience we once did.

What an elegant and charming hotel! Our group of 4 loved our stay at Hotel La Mirande! (And we have repeated our visit many times because it’s so good). The hotel team was professional and friendly, the fabulous Michelin star gastronomic restaurant inside the hotel, outstanding breakfast and the beautiful decorations of the different salons make this hotel so special! Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed, our bags were organised to our room and our car was easily valet’ed so we could kick off our holiday. We we were delighted to have a large rooms #15 and 19 with incredible views of the popes palace, big bathrooms and full baths, and a selection of pillows by the housekeeping staff. Every detail was catered for and we were so happy with our stay! Thank you Hotel La Mirande, we will be back!
