Ophorus Tours — Local services in Bordeaux

We were dropped off at what the taxi driver said was our tour meeting spot. Not the case! When I called Ophorus Tours, via the phone number listed in their recent email, a representative literally guided us by phone to the actual meeting spot! This is what I call EXCELLENT customer service.

Once we arrived, the polite guide, Valentin, assisted us with putting our belongings in his van. He reassured us that our delay was no big deal and that we arrived 3 minutes before departure. So off we go for our first visit to Burgundy!

I've been on many tours which were everything I expected and more. Valentin's brain is filled with every bit of interesting information pertaining to this beautiful region and other areas of the world! He taught us SO much about the history of the area, its culture, the vineyard growing process, how certain tastes are achieved and many other facets of the wine industry. Ophorus Tours is blessed to have such a brilliant young man representing the company and we were blessed to have him guiding us through the region. Yes, our expectations were exceeded and we are happy to have gained great information about this interesting business and the beautiful people and places that make it happen!

My wife and I had an absolutely wonderful experience on our 1-day wine tour of Saint-Émilion with our guide, Mathis. From start to finish, Mathis made the day both enjoyable and memorable. He was extremely knowledgeable about Bordeaux wines and the history of the region, yet he delivered everything in such an approachable and pleasantly funny way that kept us engaged the whole time.

The tour was very well organized, with visits to three different wineries that each offered something unique. We especially appreciated having about two hours of free time to explore the charming village of Saint-Émilion on our own—it was the perfect balance of guided learning and personal discovery.

Mathis was punctual, an excellent driver, and always accommodating to everyone’s needs. What stood out most, though, was how much thought he put into making the day fun—for example, he even organized a sensory game for us to play on the drive back to Bordeaux, which was such a clever and memorable touch.
