Good city beach area. Guarded, with a shower to wash the sand off your feet. Ice cream and drinks stall, first aid post and during summer holidays activities for kids. The guards are strict, no swimming allowed outside the indicated area. The lake is deep and cold, the part with the sandy beach is much warmer and of course more shallow. It can get very busy on hot days. Very multicultural population, which makes it nice to look around and see everyone enjoy the water and swimming in their way and their dresscode. Nice that a place like this exists and is supported by the city council. Bordeaux cares for its citizens. Easy to get here by bike and good bike...
Read moreEasy to get to by bus or tram! We use the bus 15 and it's about 30 mins away from the Bordeaux city centre, costs 7€70 for a family of 5. Lots of fun for the family here, water sports available between 14h and 18h, there's a camping ground, food trucks with reasonable priced food, area to clean up and w/c. There's lifeguards around too. The area is well sign posted and people are generally happy and friendly. Lovely lake to swim in, there's dedicated areas for babies, and other areas for playing and splashing and for swimming...
Read moreLovely beach by the lake. Safe place to swim for children and adults of all ages; monitored by four lifeguards and depths of the water clearly marked. Busy, but not so crowded that you wouldn't find a space to put down some towels and relax.
Also there's a nice shaded area of the beach under the trees if it is hot, although watch out for the pine needles coming down. For that same reason, would be a good idea to bring sandals.
Saw some fishies where the sand met the water weeds at the deep...
