This was an incredible experience!! After getting off the ship, ROA was very easy to find; not a far walk at all. We met our tour guide, Elaine, who was AMAZING!! She was very kind and helpful. She said she works with United but also does tours with ROA, so she had a lot of knowledge to share! We were with one other couple, so the experience was very personable. We started off by going to the Sloth Sanctuary, where we got to hold a sloth, macaws, and let monkeys climb on us. What a remarkable experience!! Definitely the highlight of our trip. After our sanctuary tour was over, our tour guide drove us to our snorkeling adventure. The boat driver took us and a few other people to the reefs in the ocean where we had our guided snorkeling tour. Our snorkel guide was also very friendly and helpful! We were able to see a variety of schools of fish, coral reefs, and even a stingray. After, they took us back to our tour guide, and she took us to try local Honduran food (Baleadas). We forgot our wallet, so we didn’t have cash, but our tour guide was SO incredibly generous to buy the Baleadas for us to try so that we could experience the culture. She was THE BEST TOUR GUIDE, for many reasons. The Baleadas were DELICIOUS - a must try!! She made sure to get us back to our cruise port in plenty of time, but was in no rush to make sure we got to experience everything we wanted to while we were there. She also gave us information and miscellaneous facts about Roatan as we drove by different places. We honestly can’t say enough good things about her; she was amazing!!! Such a kind soul to meet. Honestly everyone in Roatan was very friendly! We took this excursion as a celebration for our anniversary. We made memories that were unforgettable and priceless! On top of that, the price we paid for our excursion prior to our trip, was the price of everything; no hidden fees or charges, and all snorkeling equipment was included. Our tour was very personalized and that’s something that we really enjoyed. This was our first time coming to Roatan, and we will definitely be back (and to do another excursion with ROA). Highly recommend ROA; our experience...
Read moreI highly recommend Roatan Ocean Adventure to anyone who wants to have a great experience exploring Roatan, Honduras. My sister's family and I booked a tour with this company and all of us are very satisfied with the customer service prior to our trip and during our trip. Everything was as advertised on their website. My sister contacted Herbert Wood, the owner, through email prior to our trip and he promptly replied to our questions. We did not have to pay for our trip prior to going so that gave us a piece of mind. We were cautious. The meeting/pick up location was right outside the pier. Herbert emailed us detailed directions on how to get there. Danielle, our driver, greeted us and took us her van. She took us to another pier to catch the boat that will take us to go snorkeling. The pier is nice and clean. The restroom/changing room was tastefully decorated and smell great. Three tour guys took us out to the ocean and eased us into the snorkeling adventure. We have a total of 5 people and there were 3 tour guys with us! They were very sweet, patient (except for my two nieces, the rest of us are not good swimmer), and attentive to all our needs. Despite being in the middle of the ocean and not a great swimmer, we felt very safe being with those guys. Overall we have a wonderful experience and already thinking of booking with them again when we come back. The price was fair and ROA did not take advantage of us as tourist. Danielle also took us to a place for lunch that was delicious and cheap (fresh whole fried red snapper with fries/banana chip and drink for $9). Again I would high recommend ROA and hope that their business will continue to grow. ...
Read moreMy family of five booked the.sloth and monkey habitat and drift snorkel tour, with Beach and lunch options. Our own driver, Uncle Joe, stayed with us all day and made sure that our needs were met. The monkeys and sloths (And macaws) were quite an adventure! They were up close/personal experiences with the animals! Although there were a lot of different tours visiting the facility, they handled everyone very well and answered questions.
Next, the drift snorkel was scheduled, and the tour guides for this adventure were phenomenal. They went out of their way to take us a distance from other boats, and really educate us on what was going on with their Island, environmentally, involving poachers, and their own experiences growing up on the island. We were on a boat with one other family of five and two guides.
Then we were given a choice of being taken across a channel to a beach resort for lunch, or a restaurant in the city. We chose the beach resort which was an absolute gem! Brady's Cay was a great spot to hang for the afternoon. The restaurant and drinks were great. It was a very small farm style resort. We scheduled the ferry back across the water.
We were assured that they have never had anyone arrive late to their cruise ship, and Uncle Joe came to pick us up as scheduled. (Later we found out that he really is the uncle of our snorkel guide.)
Although some people find it risky to book excursions that are not offered through a cruise line, we always find it more enjoyable, more personal, and meet sincere and trustworthy people.
Although the weather was not ideal (tropical storm in the area), this was a...
