Deeply disappointing experience with Banchharam (No B/4, Raja SC Mullick Road) We had placed an advance order for 50 food packets from Banchharam’s Baghajatin branch, scheduled for delivery on the morning of October 19, 2025. These were meant for guests attending my Jethu's ( elder uncle) Shradh ceremony a solemn occasion where tradition dictates that attendees be respectfully offered food. Our only request was that the packets arrive by 10:30am, as the rituals were scheduled early and punctuality was essential. The booking was handled by an employee named Surojit (Advance Booking No. A-1048), who initially came across as courteous and accommodating. However, his demeanor changed drastically on the day of delivery. When we arrived at 10:15am to collect the packets, we were met with indifference and dismissiveness. The order hadn’t been prepared, their delivery vehicle hadn’t arrived, and no staff member was willing to take responsibility. Packet assembly only began around 11am, and the items reached our venue at 11:20am nearly an hour late. As a result, we were unable to serve seven guests working professionals who had made time to attend the ceremony out of respect. It was deeply unfortunate and culturally inappropriate that we couldn’t properly host them, all due to Banchharam’s lack of professionalism, poor coordination, and disregard for the gravity of the occasion. When we voiced our concerns, the response was shockingly apathetic. We were told to either accept the situation or take back our advance payment and “suit ourselves.” Such a reaction, especially on a day of mourning, was both hurtful and unacceptable. Banchharam’s service fell far short of what one would expect from a reputed establishment. Their inability to honor a simple commitment, coupled with their dismissive attitude, makes it hard to justify their premium pricing. If you’re planning an event where timing and respect matter, we strongly advise caution before entrusting Banchharam with your arrangements. Our experience suggests they prioritize profits over people and have little understanding of customer care or cultural sensitivity. For an establishment that prides itself on heritage and reputation, such lack of accountability, empathy, and basic professionalism is unacceptable. Horrible experience with Banchharam (No B/4 on Raja SC Mullick Road) We pre ordered 50 packets from Banchharam's Baghajatin branch for giving away on October 19, 2025 to guests who came to attend shraddh rituals. Our only condition while placing the order was packets would be delivered to us by 10:30am, because it was an early morning event, and per our tradition, attendees have to be offered something to eat. Order was taken by a certain Surojit (Advance Booking number A-1048), who was extremely polite and understanding of the entire process. The same Surojit behaved very differently - rude, callous and couldn't care less - when we went to take delivery at 10:15am on the event date. Long story short: order was not ready, their food truck hadn't arrived, no one at the shop was willing to take onus, they started making packets at 11! The packets finally reached our venue at 11:20am. We were unable to serve 7 attendees at the shradhh - busy working professionals who took time out just to drop by and show solidarity - a shameful and inauspicious thing that the family could not thank them the way it should be done for such events due to Banchharam's inefficiency, callousness, extremely poor customer service, lack of awareness of the seriousness of the occasion and gross mismanagement. When we expressed our displeasure at the way they were handling the situation, we were told they could do nothing more and if we were so disturbed we could just take back the advance given for the order and suit ourselves. Banchharam is clearly not where you go to if you have commitments to keep, how they justify their exorbitant rates with this kind of service is unfathomable.
