It is a place you only dream about and wish some day you would be so lucky to experience this paradise. We were lucky enough to do just that. I am speaking of Trullo Ad Caelum.
We originally had booked our travel a couple of years ago and then covid happened. Since we were unable to travel from the US to Italy, we reached out to Massimo and without hesitation, Massimo refunded our deposit. Now that is customer service and that is someone who truly cares about his clients and soon to be guests. We knew when the time was right we would work with Massimo and Puglia Paradise.
That time came a few months ago when we reached out to Massimo and started planning our trip to Puglia. Massimo helped us get started and after looking at numerous properties, we decided to book Trullo Ad Caelum. Once we had locked in our dates and make sure our friends were still good to go, the experience began.
Weeks ahead of time we were put in touch with our Angel, Sara. Sara helped us with all of the arrangements ranging from (numerous) dinners we would host at the Villa including a special birthday dinner where Sara even helped with a request for a specific cake working with a local baker.
So it was time for us to finally head to Trullo Ad Caleum. We pulled up to a gated entrance. When the gate slowly opened and we drove down the long driveway with a tennis court to the left and an awesome view straight ahead, we knew we arrived. It is one of those moments when you stop and wonder if this is real, and we had not even gotten out of the car yet.
Sara greeted us and she was so great as she did not just rush us through and show us the house. With Trullo Ad Caleaum there is no shortage of activities whether you want to stay at the Villa or wander around nearby towns.
There was a total of 7 of us and because of the size of the villa and the surrounding grounds, we could have been there the whole time and have never seen each other but of course we spent as much time as we could with each other. There were so many spaces to sit and relax and gather both inside and out. The hot tub was a great gathering spot and sitting up in the lounge area overlooking the town below was perfect. Did I mention the pool.
This is a pool you see in pictures. It was perfectly placed to actually feel like it was part of the hill it was on. The area around the pool was so relaxing with plenty of chairs and also some nice covering so you could sit out and read, nap, or just relax.
The next day we settled in and right away went to the nearby grocery store to stock up - the store was so convenient to the villa it made the location that much better.
So back to the villa. With a kitchen in the main house and a much larger one on the lower level, we never had to wait long to make coffee, make meals, or grab something out of the refrigerator. Having two fully stocked kitchens was also a huge plus so we didn’t have to bring things up and down. Speaking of coffee, when one of the coffeemakers went on the fritz, we dialed up Sara and she found us a new coffeemaker and before we knew it they were switched out. Talk about an Angel.
As you can tell by now, the villa was not just about the villa but about the experience - we honestly did not have to worry about a thing - our days were filled with experiences including a day at the beach which was close by and a nice time at a nice club.
While we had an amazing time exploring many local towns including a wonderful day in Bari, we would have had an amazing time just staying at the villa - it was like a mini resort you go to and stay at for a week, not worrying about a thing.
We cannot say enough about our time at Trullo Ad Caleum other than we cannot wait to return - while it felt like a once in a lifetime adventure, we look forward to making it another lifetime adventure.
Thank you to Massimo, Sara and the Puglia Paradise...

During our July 2024 stay, our villa had a major ant problem.
We noticed the ants during our first morning at the villa, my son was watching TV in the living area and ran to tell us that he was sitting on the sofa and ants were crawling all over him. We went and took a look, and there were ants everywhere on the sofa, rug, under the rug and into the twin bedroom next to the living area. At this point we had not consumed any food in the villa to attract ants. We killed and cleaned them up and notified our “guest angel.”Her suggestion was to use insect spray that was in the service room. We sprayed a bit, but quickly realized it was strong and not safe to be spraying and breathing in while we were there. It was fine one time, but to expect us to use it multiple times a day for several days isn't right.
The next day, we noticed that there were ants all over the twin beds and the main bedroom king bed, actually in the beds and requested a deep clean and bedding change. The cleaning service did come to change the bedding, and they put down insect powder. The powder was all over the villa, a two inch border of powder along all walls, windows, doors. I expressed concerns with having pesticide powder all over the villa, while we were occupying it, especially with a child in the house. We were stepping in it coming in and out of the door. The cleaning service spoke to our guest angel on the telephone and ended up vacuuming it up. I also spoke to her and expressed my concern and disappointment in all this.
The ant issue continued the rest of our stay at Villa Rosara, and ultimately ruined our stay. Imagine getting into a bed every night with ants, especially when paying a high price. We'd kill them, and 20 minutes later there would be more. Puglia Paradise claims to provide a 5 star experience and that is not what we received
I think most people would agree, that expecting guests to douse the villa with toxic spray and/or toxic powder while staying there is not an acceptable solution. Especially with a young child being one of those guests. The villa clearly had a major issue prior to us arriving and likely their “solution” would not have changed the situation of ants in the beds, unless they expected us to douse the beds in the pesticides too.
While it did not ruin our entire trip, it did ruin that portion of our trip. We are well traveled and stay in countryside villas all the time. and have never had an experience like this before. Again, if the ants were only in the kitchen or living area no issue. But expecting guests to put up with bugs of any kind in the beds they are sleeping on is completely unacceptable.
Due to how this situation was handled by Puglia Paradise, I cannot recommend this company.
Full disclosure, we were given a very small minimal refund of 10%, only after sending a formal email once we returned home from our trip. During our time at the villa we were offered nothing for the inconvenience.
It was an extremely disappointing experience.
I have videos of the ants in the beds, that I would like to post but Google...

Our stay at Casale La Cocca, booked through Puglia Paradise, was nothing short of a dream—and much of that is thanks to Rossella, who was truly our guardian angel throughout the entire experience. From the moment we booked, her warmth, professionalism, and above-and-beyond hospitality elevated our vacation into something magical.
Rossella was available to us every step of the way via WhatsApp, always just a message away with thoughtful recommendations, real-time guidance, and genuine care. She helped us stock our villa before arrival with a beautiful welcome hamper full of fresh fruit, local meats and cheeses, bread, eggs, cereal—every essential thoughtfully curated. She even sent GPS coordinates for the nearest grocery stores, bakeries, restaurants, and attractions, making it effortless to navigate the charming but winding roads of Puglia.
Need restaurant recommendations? She had the best. Trouble with the dryer? Help arrived in minutes. Last-minute boat day or beach club booking? She made it happen seamlessly. It wasn’t just concierge-level service—it was personalized, attentive care that made us feel incredibly supported and pampered every day.
The villa itself, Casale La Cocca, was straight out of a Puglian fairytale—nestled among ancient olive trees, fragrant lavender, and fruit trees heavy with lemons, persimmons, and pomegranates. The home was stunning: perfectly maintained, elegantly decorated, and outfitted with everything a group could need. The air conditioning was excellent, the washer and dryer (complete with detergent, ironing board, and steamer) made packing light easy, and the pristine private pool was the perfect spot to relax after exploring nearby towns like Ostuni, Polignano a Mare, and Alberobello.
The midweek housekeeping service was immaculate, and the pool attendant kept everything sparkling. The outdoor kitchen and dining area were the crowning touches—ideal for long, relaxed dinners under the stars.
A true highlight was the private chef Rossella helped us organize, who came to the villa to teach us how to make traditional Puglian orecchiette by hand. It was a culinary experience we’ll never forget, topped off by an exquisite dinner enjoyed in the comfort of our own villa.
This wasn’t just a vacation—it was a luxurious, thoughtfully curated experience, and we owe so much of that to Rossella and the outstanding team at Puglia Paradise. We left feeling refreshed, enchanted, and already dreaming of our return.
If you’re considering a stay in Puglia, look no further. This is five-star hospitality at its finest. Grazie mille, Rossella and Puglia Paradise—you made our trip absolutely perfect...
