The staff are very friendly and the food tastes good. The only downfall this place has is the overall service and attention it has on its customers. When they are serving you, it's great, but the time it takes to order, wait, and then wait again is excruciating. There needs to be more time and attention spent on customers and the speed in which things are asked for. Example: when asking for another drink, or simply taking down what you want to eat, this should be done within the first 5 min of sitting down. Additionally, when sat down, it shouldn't take more than 10min to order a bottle of water. There was a couple who I watched that came in, he was wearing a nice suit and his wife was dressed up. As soon as they sat down, they had a bottle of water, a bottle of wine and some olives/bread at there table in less than 5min. Don't ask me how but that's not how other customers were treated.
Anyways, if you've got 3 hours to burn for dinner, come here. Also, if you want the bill, don't ask for it. Go inside and point to the table you sat at and pay right at the...
Read moreWhere do I even start. I don’t need to say anything about the food because so many others already have. All you need to know is that you cannot go wrong with anything you order. Everything is simply fantastic! I should know because I was here twice in a matter of 3 days that I stayed in the area. Tried various dishes and I simply can’t decide what was best. Just ask them to bring you their best dishes made of local ingredients and you will leave a happy happy customer. Now, service: never have I seen such dedication to customer satisfaction. Long story short, I needed a cab on may back to the historic center where I was staying and the taxi company they called was unavailable. No sweat! VITO, one of the staff, an incredible human being, dropped me off himself with his personal car!!! This happened while the restaurant was packed with locals. No words! I am immensely grateful for this kindness from the restaurant and Vito. His response: you are...
Read moreEven with plenty of experience when it comes to Italian cuisine, I didn’t expect to discover such a gem in Alberobello. The food was simply outstanding — our beloved grilled lamb, perfectly grilled vegetables, orecchiette con rappe, porcini both grilled and served as carpaccio, heavenly tiramisu, and delightful local wines from Alberobello. To finish, the grappa and limoncello were pure poetry.
What truly made our visits unforgettable, however, was the service — warm, genuine, and thoroughly professional. The team made us feel as though we were dining in the home of dear friends. A special thank-you to our wonderful host, Franco, whose kindness and care turned every dinner into a celebration.
People like Franco make Gli Ulivi a place you look forward to returning to again and again. See you in the years to come!
