Trullo dei Sapori — Restaurant in Alberobello

Had dinner at Trullo dei Sapori and while the food was pretty good, the service left a lot to be desired. I ordered a plate of orecchiette con cime di rape and then bombette with salsiccia for my second course, both tasty and well-cooked.

Unfortunately, the experience was let down by the service. From the start, the waiter and waitress seemed to be pushing their own suggestions, even after I clearly said I was after meat, not fish. He kept insisting I go for the fish anyway, which felt a bit pushy.

While we were eating, staff stood nearby and watched us closely, which made the whole experience feel pretty uncomfortable. It got worse when the waitress cleared my friend’s olives and dish before I’d even finished my first course, then brought out both of our second plates at the same time.

By the end we were full, so we politely declined dessert..but the waitress kept pushing suggestions and eventually asked if she could just bring one out for us to share. Honestly, it all felt a bit too much.

The food’s worth trying, but unless the staff ease off a bit and improve their service etiquette, the overall vibe feels more intimidating than enjoyable. Bit of a...

Appena entrate, nemmeno il tempo di accomodarci e togliere la giacca, il cameriere è subito venuto a chiederci se volevamo mangiare carne o pesce… Quasi come se avesse fretta. Noi abbiamo risposto dicendo che non avevamo ancora guardato il menù, ma pensavamo di prendere le “polpette delle nonna”, viste dalle foto su internet, ci sembravano invitanti (ma purtroppo si sono rivelate mediocri, per non dire peggio: polpette di pane che sembravano di cartone). A quel punto il cameriere ha risposto “cosa!?” in modo sgarbato; ho dovuto ripetere “polpette della nonna” un paio di volte prima che capisse. Mi fissava stranito come se non sapesse nemmeno lui cosa ci fosse sul loro menù…

Poco dopo torna e ci chiede se volevamo del pesce fuori menù. È venuto a farci vedere il pesce al tavolo direttamente dentro alla teglia dalla cucina, con un modo quasi “aggressivo” come se volesse proprio convincerci ad ordinare quel piatto (scena che si poi è ripetuta anche con altri clienti, sia con piatti di pesce, che di carne).

Alla fine, non avendo troppa fame, abbiamo ordinato soltanto due antipasti (le famose “polpette della nonna”), ed un primo piatto, gli “Strozzapreti alla Nocina”, con pomodoro, salsiccia e funghi. Devo dire che erano buoni e sono stati l’unica cosa positiva della nostra serata nel locale, oltre alla location che è particolare e ben adornata.

Ma riprendiamo con le cose da dimenticare: il personale di sala ci ha guardate male e le due cameriere in sala ridevano, o meglio, sghignazzavano tra di loro quando abbiamo declinato il vino e ordinato soltanto due antipasti e un primo per cena.

Ma la scena migliore è arrivata poco dopo aver ordinato: sono arrivate nel locale due signore di mezza età, che gentilmente hanno chiesto al cameriere in quale tavolo potevano accomodarsi. Lui ha risposto in modo spazientito e con tono alto di voce “lì, lì”, indicando il tavolo da lontano con sufficienza, senza un minimo di educazione e senza accompagnarle. Le signore si sono scambiate uno sguardo inorridito e (giustamente) se ne sono andate. Il cameriere è addirittura uscito a cercarle, facendo dei versi per strada… Che imbarazzo.

In conclusione, le attenzioni al cliente sono completamente assenti. Per fare un altro esempio: non hanno portato il parmigiano al tavolo e nemmeno l’olio ed i condimenti al tavolo accanto, che aveva ordinato la bruschetta di bufala. Ho lavorato nella ristorazione, e anche se sembra un piccolo dettaglio, per un cameriere serio non lo è assolutamente.

Inoltre nessuno in sala parlava inglese, assurdo per una località così turistica come Alberobello. E ci tengo a specificare che nessuno dei camerieri era “giovane”. Inesperti sicuramente sì, ma comunque di una certa età, da cui sicuramente ti aspetti come minimo un atteggiamento professionale ed educato.

Peccato che il rispetto non sia un concetto compreso ed...

Just traveling through this beautiful town for the night and looked for a good restaurant a bit outside the tourist area. Good reviews so we walked by and secured reservations at 7:00. Good thing! We wanted to order a bottle of the Primitivo wine, but unfortunately, both brands they were out of so we settled for one of those suggestions and it was actually very good. Started off dinner with the local pasta with beef, really good. I had the sausage, although it was good it was a bit undercooked getting towards the center. The grilled veggies were just ok, no seasoning and the shrimp was fine. The service was excellent with 3 gentlemen roaming the floor helping out. Ended up eating inside as the evening was a little bit chilly. When we walked by the restaurant later after our stroll, we noticed that the place was still packed.
