Mercato Coperto Santa Scolastica — Local services in Bari

For my breakfast this morning, since I had to pass by the Santa Scolastica covered market for work, I decided to ask if there was a bar there in addition to all the many stalls. The vendors I asked confirmed its presence and told me how to get there. Even though it was very modest and had a sign that read “Enoteca,” I ordered a decaffeinated coffee that was served in a paper cup—with disposable stirrers available for mixing in the sweetener—all provided by a young person whose physical appearance suggests he’s grown far more than his age would indicate. The final surprise was that the decaf cost €1, which I believe is the lowest price in the city. He didn’t offer the glass of water that good baristas...

Visited as a part of the trip to Bari. Definitely a local place but you will LOVE it. 😍 I study Italian, guys were talking to me, were very friendly.

I visited with my Sony camera, very visibly being a tourist and journalist.. But noone tried to cheat me or steal my stuff (3 visits so far).. Quite the opposite. People here are very friendly and honest. Let me taste stuff and want to take pictures with...

È un Mercato questo, di ultimissima generazione, edificato negli ultimi anni di questo nuovo Millennio, molto spazioso, e molto frequentato, sia dalla popolazione della città, che da abitanti di altri paesi vicini! Nelle sue interminabili gallerie, comprende numerosi stand, con vendita di prodotti tipici d'ogni genere, e anche di prodotti locali e di produzione artigianale propria! Ci sono : bancarelle di vendita di pane, di prodotti caseari, di prodotti ittici, con pesce sempre fresco, pescato giornalmente dai pescherecci barese nel mar Adriatico! Proseguendo nei corridoi, troviamo ancora bancarelle con vendita di prodotti degli orti, frutta di qualsiasi stagione ;bancarelle di dolciumi, di verdure, di frutta secca, compresi i pomodori essiccati al sole, da mettere sott'olio a casa propria! Troviamo, inoltre, prodotti di bellezza, prodotti per la prima infanzia, giocattoli, abbigliamento, la Parafarmacia, e finanche una Caffetteria! È, veramente, un Mercato provvisto di tutto, non solo da visitare, ma da viverlo appieno prima di tutto, per assaporare realmente, tutte le atmosfere, e la vita della città, attraverso la sua...
