Traditional small family-run ryokan that is very welcoming and homely. Do tell them if you are driving and they will reserve a parking lot for you. Even if you are not driving, they are located very near to the train station. Highly recommended to book your stay with meals. We love the dinner and breakfast served to us in the restaurant. The meals are prepared with local seasonal ingredients, so beautifully presented and delicious. They have indoor and outdoor onsen which are well maintained. There are also free coffee and cold water for you to drink at the lobby area. There is also a small souvenir stall for you to shop. Upon check out, we managed to get the Gero Onsen Gassho Village tickets from the reception at a discounted price. A wonderful experience.

Great location just across the train station. The room was ok (we were in the room for 4. The heater was a little weak to proper heat the whole room in January). Dinner was good. Breakfast was ok. The Onsen was also ok (my expectations were a lot higher given that this is Gero) with an indoor and outdoor one. The Onsen does not have the ‘mineral’ smell I was hoping for. The hotel seems to ‘shutdown’ at noon to prepare for the afternoon check ins. So we had to collect our luggage before noon which was ok as we were booked on the 12:22 train to Nagoya.

The hotel is nice. The atmosphere is great. Very traditional Japanese onsen hotel. However, it is a bit old. The room, onsen area and the lobby are not as fancy as other onsen hotel. The room is very big, enough for two big luggage. The Futon bed is so comfortable and warm, love it so much! it’s such a comfortable stay. And my friend loves the old traditional Japanese vibe there! Enjoy the outdoor onsen quite a lot. The dinner and breakfast is quite nice too.

This was my second stay at Mutsumikan, with 2 different friends. Needless to say, I have totally enjoyed my first experience in 2018, so Mutsumikan was an obvious choice when I visited Gifu area, Takayama in particular, for the Takayama Festival.||Mutsumikan is a small and quaint onsen hotel, so the experience is intimate and very homely. I was reminded by my first impression of Mutsumikan in 2018, to see my name at the entrance where they displayed the names of all guests checking in for the day. It is a welcoming and warm gesture.||I was pleasantly surprised to be greeted by name, by Ms Saito at the hotel lobby before check in. She actually remembered me from 2018. Such is true hospitality!||The location of hotel is excellent, very convenient from JR Gero station and within walking distance to nearby walking streets. The room is cozy and clean. The onsen is superb. And of course, dinner. It is a must to have dinner and breakfast in Mutsumikan, the food is so delicious! Everything is prepared with love and dedication. ||I will stay with Mutsumikan again when...

Stayed in Mutsumikan for a night on boxing day, and our room is Yamabuki room which has toilet and bath.||||Room were very basic and simple compared to other ryokan that we have stayed in. It was very clean and was big too, abt 18sqm on living area. ||||Ryokan were abt 2min walk from Gero stations. Turn right at the station and walk underpass. The ryokan will be at sight. My booking comes with breakfast and 120g A4 Hida beef dinner. Dinner were good and was served in our room. The hotel staff cant speak english much, but they tried their best to explain/help us. The nanny who is in charge of serving our dinner was very motherly and friendly. ||||If you need to visit the gassho village in gero, a discount coupon is available at the counter. ||There is outdoor and indoor onsen on the ground floor, which is available from 3pm to 12am, and 5am...
