Onsen-ji Temple — Attraction in Gero

Onsenji Temple is a unique and beautiful spot to visit while in Gero. After climbing a lot of steps, you'll find yourself surrounded by a cemetery with a serene and peaceful atmosphere. 長い階段を登る必要があります。段数は数えたところ172段ありました。温泉入る前にはいい運動になります（笑）お堂が二つあるのですが、それぞれ靴を脱げば入ることが出来ました。下呂温泉を教えてくれたシラサギ（実は薬師如来の化身）の彫り物が見事でした。温泉寺からは街を一望することができます。残念ながら少し曇ってしまったのですが、それでも良い眺めを楽しめました

To get to the temple, you have to go up the long stairs. I counted the number of steps, and there were 172 steps. It can be a good exercise before taking the hot spring. Hahaha. There were two buildings in the premises, and we were able to enter in both. A carving of a white heron/egret, (actually an incarnation of a deity called Yakushi Nyorai) who taught people in Gero about the hot spring, was displayed. It was impressive. Nice temple overseeing the village that's known for the Possibly one of the best hot spring in Japan. It seems that they have over-marketed this place & now it feels like a theme park rather than anything authentic. IMHO Still the view...
