Onsenji Temple is a unique and beautiful spot to visit while in Gero. After climbing a lot of steps, you'll find yourself surrounded by a cemetery with a serene and peaceful atmosphere. 長い階段を登る必要があります。段数は数えたところ172段ありました。温泉入る前にはいい運動になります(笑)お堂が二つあるのですが、それぞれ靴を脱げば入ることが出来ました。下呂温泉を教えてくれたシラサギ(実は薬師如来の化身)の彫り物が見事でした。温泉寺からは街を一望することができます。残念ながら少し曇ってしまったのですが、それでも良い眺めを楽しめました
To get to the temple, you have to go up the long stairs. I counted the number of steps, and there were 172 steps. It can be a good exercise before taking the hot spring. Hahaha. There were two buildings in the premises, and we were able to enter in both. A carving of a white heron/egret, (actually an incarnation of a deity called Yakushi Nyorai) who taught people in Gero about the hot spring, was displayed. It was impressive.
