The Gero onsen is now a dated onsen area.
Has been for a while, but it's worth a visit is you want a quiet time.
This onsen hotel is old, but big.
The old rooms are basic and feel old for sure.
The newer room in the new area are light and fresh and really nice.
Ask for one of those rooms and you will enjoy your stay a lot more.
The onsens in the hotel are OK, not bad, with mountain side view.
Also why not go to the small public onsen a Cross the river, that's very hot and you can enjoy the river from that area.
It's not bad onsen hotel and area for a night or so.
