My stay at the Gero Onsen Yamagataya was a truly memorable experience. This charming hotel offers a delightful combination of stunning views, convenient shopping, and, of course, the relaxing bliss of a traditional onsen. The views from the hotel were simply breathtaking. Whether it was from my room or the common areas, I was constantly treated to picturesque landscapes of the surrounding area. It added a special touch to my stay, creating a sense of tranquility and connection with nature. One of the unexpected highlights was the hotel's in-house souvenir shop. It was surprisingly well-stocked with high-quality local crafts and treats, making it incredibly convenient to find unique gifts for friends and family (and maybe a little something for myself!). The selection was impressive, and the prices were reasonable.Of course, no onsen hotel review would be complete without mentioning the onsen itself. The onsen at Yamagataya was fantastic. The various pools offered a range of temperatures and experiences, perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring. The serene atmosphere added to the overall sense of relaxation and rejuvenation.Overall, my stay at the Gero Onsen Yamagataya was exceptional. The combination of the stunning views, the convenient shopping, and the wonderful onsen experience made for a truly relaxing and enjoyable getaway. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a traditional Japanese onsen experience with a touch of...
Read moreWe went to Gero to take Onsen even tough it was still in summer, the end of summer tough. What a beautiful place there with so vintage looking village. The weather is nice, the memory is will be always remembered and is a perfect site for honeymoon.||This hotel is also very clean and got a super view by facing at the strong current river and yet some locals are fishing there. ||The onsen is always be a great memorable time because you can relax in the outdoor there. Yes you are naked there and OUTDOOR so I think people can see you bathing but too common view there so I believe they get used to it.||||The hotel also provide shuttle to the station so it is very convenient. You can walk there too if no heavy things on your shoulders because they have great view wherever you go in this village.||Can't forget the beauty along the village when we take the train. Hills, rivers, alley.....oh my! Love it too much!||I will go again someday!!!! Ah yes, the service is OUTSTANDING!!! 10/10 even tough they cant speak Japanese well, they serve us awesomely.||If I can say, the budget is also not too bad as we consider the food quality is super high and traditional japanese meals. A MUST GO site to true...
Read moreHotel ReviewUnfortunately, my experience at this hot spring hotel did not meet expectations. The dinner service was particularly lacking. The food had already been set up in the room before we arrived, and the waiter offered minimal assistance, only asking if we had lit the fire. There was no explanation of the dishes, nor was a menu provided. To make matters worse, the necessary cutlery for different courses was repeatedly overlooked, which detracted from the overall dining experience. The food itself was unremarkable and didn’t compare to what other hot spring hotels typically offer. The private onsen also posed a challenge. The water switch was broken, leaving no way to adjust the temperature or water flow, resulting in water that was uncomfortably hot throughout our stay. Breakfast the next morning was very basic and lacked the variety or creativity I’ve come to expect from similar establishments. Overall, the hotel did not live up to the standards I’ve experienced elsewhere and left much room for...
