Furuichi Bukkake-an Udon Restaurant (倉敷うどん ぶっかけ庵 ふるいち) is conveniently located near the historical quarter. The noodles were some of the best I've ever had, with an unbelievably good chewy texture that was perfectly springy.

The toppings, like fresh green onions, tempura crisps, and tender beef, paired beautifully with the noodles. The tempura was light and crispy, making it a tasty side.

The dessert balls (shiratama dango) were also a highlight, with a fantastic chewy texture and just the right amount of sweetness from the red bean paste.

Our hotel recommended this restaurant when we arrived at lunch time. So we went, oh my god, the udon noodles were truly amazing! We were not so udon noodles fans before but this restaurant has changed our opinion- WE LOVE IT !! We also tried shabu shabu, really fantastic !! The lovely friendly waitress explained to us how to eat, what sauce etc...in such sweet manners. The owner should be proud to have such wonderful team. Recommended by our hotel receptionist, we came to Furuichi for an early dinner upon arrival. The udon was the best we had during our stay in Japan, with just the right texture and chewiness. A bonus is being able to watch the chefs check on and cook their noodles from the window looking in from our seats. Overall, the ambience was lovely and the staff were kind.
