We found Midori online, by chance, on a Friday afternoon when we had just arrived in Kyoto, for a few days. We were able to book a cooking class for Monday night at 5pm - very lucky! Midori is wonderful. She is very warm and welcoming, and it was fun to spend the evening in her kitchen and dining room, cooking and eating! We were specifically interested in learning how to make takoyadi. It was delicious! The salmon & plum nigiri was also delicious, along with the pork, cabbage and green onion and dumplings and the miso soup. Quite a feast, we could not eat another bite! Midori is very accomodating, and happy to make substitutions based on people's preferences. She has a wealth of knowledge about restaurants and other sites of interest in Kyoto and Tokyo. She has the unique ability to put you at ease immediately, while generously sharing her expertise of the culinary arts of Japan. Highly recommend!

My husband I spent our honeymoon in Japan and thought it would be fun to book a cooking class. I found Midori through TikTok and am so glad that I did. The class was at 5:30pm and it was only my husband and I, it felt so intimate! Midori taught us how to make onigiri, gyoza, and shoyu ramen, all from scratch. The food was AMAZING and authentic, and so was the conversation. We got to leave with recipes of all the food we made so we can attempt to recreate them at home. Midori gave us a list of local recommendations from food to desserts, and even a place to buy chefs knives. She made us feel at home the moment we arrived. She even offered to be a resource throughout our trip in Japan. If you’re thinking about booking a class with Midori, DO IT! You won’t regret. Thank you Midori, we’ll see you again soon!

Midori is the BEST! We had such a memorable experience spending time with her in her own home making ramen, gyoza, and onigiri. Everything felt so personal and intentional about our time with her. She gave some really good recommendations for places to eat and things to do in Kyoto that made our trip even more special. We can’t rave enough about how sweet, kind and talented she is—please book your cooking class with Midori when you’re in Kyoto!

My family booked a cooking class with Midori and it was a highlight of our 16 days in Japan! We did an evening class where we made onigiri, gyoza and ramen. We had so much fun with Midori, learning how to cook traditional Japanese food. She is a warm, witty and patient teacher who was wonderful with my 14-year-old son. The food was delicious and we came home with all the recipes and videos of the personalized instruction. The food was delicious but it was the host that made the evening so special. I highly recommend booking a class with Midori for a unique and unforgettable experience in Kyoto. ...
