HALE KYOTO TAMBAGUCHI — Hotel in Kyoto

We arrived at the hotel and I understand that we are foreigners, so there is going be some language barrier…. but it was so difficult to check in!! The receptionist had no English, and didn’t even greet us with a smile. She just said pay … and showed us a calculator…. Without even asking for our names or booking information. We had to use google translate back and forth as she was charging us extra for city tax which we wasn’t aware of, after 30 mins of going back and forth on google translate , she then got someone from the back who spoke English ? Who was there from the beginning ? I felt like this could have been done immediately to save us and her time….

We stayed 3 nights here… one of the nights a random man walked into our room whilst we were asleep. Yes , they gave him access to our room, I’m still waiting on response from the hotel? On check out we got the same girl at reception so we got no answer as to how they allowed this to happen? So if you wish to book a hotel with no security then this is the place? I’ve contacted the hotel via email, and Instagram and no reply back….

Very beautiful, clean and comfortable rooms with very nice showers. Situated in a quiet neighborhood perfect for relaxing night/morning walks. What I especially liked is that the TV was not locked so we where easily able to play our own Media! The only issue we had is that the door seemed to be rather thin, a lot of sound came through especially because we where on the lobby level but we got used to it. Probably going to stay here again when we come back to Kyoto. Thank you to the HALE staff...

By email I was told not to checkin before 16:00. And there would be no storage for my bags until that time. When we arrived we noted there was no manned reception. I received a pass number for my door to enter the room. No dining or breakfast facilities. hardly any restaurants in the area (7-Eleven nearby).
