Shirahone Onsen — Local services in Matsumoto

Went there with my family first week of Feb and was disappointed to learn the place is a ghost village with pretty much everything closed during winter. This is really misleading because if you look online for Shirahone Onsen you will often see pictures with hot baths and snow around. Don't be fooled, everything is shut down during winter months up there. There was one small hotel with a guy outside that tried to explain us in broken words that nothing is open and even that small hotel Onsen is only for guests that are staying (no day visitors). 泉質は炭酸水素塩泉（硫化水素型）で、硫黄と炭酸成分が豊富に含まれている

「三日入れば三年風邪をひかない」

と言い伝えられるほど、古くから薬湯として親しまれてなんだか聞いたことのある名言が残っている

胃腸病や神経痛、婦人病、美肌効果など、様々な効能が期待できるとされている 飲泉所も設けられており、胃腸の働きを助け、便秘にも良いとされている

様々な旅館があり「泡の湯」のような大規模な混浴露天風呂が有名な宿から、落ち着いた雰囲気で静かに湯治を楽しめる宿まで、旅のスタイルに合わせて選ぶことができる

また、日帰り入浴を受け入れている施設も多く、気軽にその名湯を体験することも可能

特に「白骨温泉公共野天風呂」は、自然の中に溶け込む開放的な露天風呂で、川のせせらぎを聞きながら湯を満喫できると人気
