Secluded simple ryokan. It was a little challenging driving towards the location as the road was narrow and steep so be careful. The staff/family were really accommodating and nice. Amenities available are two big towels, two small towels, two socks, nightwear (you can ask for small size as the one set in the room is L size), two toothbrushes, hairbrush, hair tie, cotton, q-tips, and hair dryer. There is television, refrigerator and safe box in the room. Water heater for the tea set are also available. The downside is they have central heating which they turn off between 9-10pm so the only way to warm yourself up are the futons or the table that has a heater underneath which can only heat your lower extremities. Toilet in the room is available but no shower. There are five hot baths in total. 2 outside bath (one is small, the other is a little big), 3 inside (one is for women, one for women and third is private which can be used by anyone first come, first served). The private hot bath is small and deep so we were just standing in the bath. All baths have body soap and shampoo available. The shower in the woman’s bath is not functional so you would use the hot bath water to manually wash your body. They also have a recreational room which has a ping pong table and some board games. There is vending machine inside the facility. Books and magazines are available to borrow. The restaurant, onsens and recreational room are all in the 2nd floor. They have a souvenir shop in the first floor in the front desk area. Food was good and most were ingredients were...
Read moreWe stayed at this wonderful hotel for two nights three days. It was wonderful, with the sound of the river filling our room. There are three private hot springs that you can use whenever they are empty (no slippers in front of the door). We could always find one free. They were awesome, with a strong smell of sulfur and incredible white water. The temperature was perfect. I have been to dozens of hot springs around Japan, but this is my favorite. The water makes your skin feel so smooth, and you can drink directly from the spout as it puts out hot spring water that is undiluted, right from the source.||The room was spacious and super clean. Wifi, too! There is no bath in the room but not problem, with men's and women's baths with showers, a couples bath with a shower, and of course the three private baths.||The food was delicious. It included all local ingredients which were all fresh and tasty.||The staff was so kind, although English is limited. I can speak Japanese, but even still with the staff being in their 20's I am sure they speak basic English, so it shouldn't be a problem.||Access is by bus, although there are not many of them, or by car. Car is best. You must cross a bridge to get to the hotel, which makes it very private. ||I could go on and on about this place. I will go back again and sit in the 24-hour hot springs while looking up at the incredible starry sky...pitch black at night. Shooting stars....awesome. I want to go back now. ...
Read moreThis onsen is a hidden gem in Shirahone Onsen. Its close but you cannot find it easily if you get distracted in other onsen places because this place is like a hidden lovely place. I will give 5 star overall. Number one is the family in the onsen, they accommodated us in a very lovely and caring manner. Their service is with utmost respect. They will treat you like a family too. ❤️ Number 2 is the onsen itself, i love the milky white bath, clean and few guests to preserve their onsen. Number 3 is the nature view in our room, excellent and relaxing views! Finally their food, very light and scrumptious. ❤️ I will definitely comeback with...
