Bandai Bridge — Local services in Niigata

Really, nothing special about the bridge. Heck, there are bridges like this all over Japan, and many that are more beautiful. The walkways that run along the riverbank on both sides of this bridge are the real appeal of this area. It provides during good weather, a pleasant and scenic walk to places of interest on both sides that are not crowded. Be warned that almost everything closes past 5 pm. and the area is deserted, like much of Niigata that shuts down...

I understand this bridge is an important symbol in Niigata but there's nothing particularly interesting or impressive about it. If I had not read that it's considered a "site" I would not have thought twice about it. If you visit Niigata and go around the city you will inevitably pass by or over it, but I wouldn't go out of your way...
