I guess we went during a lull period in December, so it was somewhat quiet, though there were a couple tour groups from Taiwan or China. The hotel had a nice large lobby, and the staff were nice but their English was not strong. Our room was small but cosy. The Onzen was large and well provided with amenities. There were 3 indoor baths, a jacuzzi and an outdoor bath for the men. The buffet dinner had a large spread as did the breakfast. We took a bus from Sapporo station. We made the mistake of not taking the Express bus because it needed online reservations, so it was longer, about 75 minutes for about 790Yen. There is also a shuttle from the hotel but that also required reservations too. But the Jozankei Yu no Machi bus stop is right outside the ryokan so very convenient. See the Shikanoyu Hotel website for more specifics....
