Hotel Shika no Yu — Local services in Sapporo

I guess we went during a lull period in December, so it was somewhat quiet, though there were a couple tour groups from Taiwan or China. The hotel had a nice large lobby, and the staff were nice but their English was not strong. Our room was small but cosy. The Onzen was large and well provided with amenities. There were 3 indoor baths, a jacuzzi and an outdoor bath for the men. The buffet dinner had a large spread as did the breakfast. We took a bus from Sapporo station. We made the mistake of not taking the Express bus because it needed online reservations, so it was longer, about 75 minutes for about 790Yen. There is also a shuttle from the hotel but that also required reservations too. But the Jozankei Yu no Machi bus stop is right outside the ryokan so very convenient. Good|. Location is good, right in the middle of the town, easy to walk everywhere.|. The lobby has a very nice lounge area with complimentary coffee at certain times of the day and also a place to indulge in classical music. Very very nice.|. The onsen is nicely organised, a few pools : 39degC, 42degC, outdoor 42degC area, and a jacuzzi.||Can be better|. The buffet dinner and breakfast is average.|. We were first given room 352, which had 2 problems, the door opens out to the roof like area (but guests are disallowed from walking out) which means that one may not want to keep the sliding door open for ventilation, and also the shower and bathtub were choked. We were later changed to room 951,...
