Description
Hōjō-ji was a Buddhist temple in Kyoto which was, for a time, one of the highest temples in Japanese Buddhism. The temple was built around the year 1017, by Fujiwara no Michinaga. The dedication of its Golden Hall in 1022 is detailed in the historical epic Eiga Monogatari.

The trail passes 88 official temples and numerous other sacred sites along the way where Kobo Daishi is believed to have a trainee.

It is said that stepping on the sand will bring good fortune just as if you were on that pilgrimage of the 88 temples.

Nice temple, a walk from nishi waseda or takadonababa. Very modern feeling. It has a nice layout to it widing up the hill to a fairly open space. Nice gate keeper statutes. Strange horses inside the gate entrance. The west side of the temple is definitely the best looking part. Temple always stays open so you can visit...

I just realize near my place there beautiful buddhist temple, because i think that same temple as shinto temple location just beside the place. theres jizo bousatsu , ksitigarbha bodhisattva statue and acala, also in main shrine, Buddha statue. so serene and tranquil, happy could donate fragrance stick.
